Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Updated August 2019 : i tried once CS near Napoli (Italy) few years ago and it was very nice ! We spend few days with famlly and friends, had very interesting discussions about south italian way of life, mafia or women condition in south Italia.

I travel mainly in hostel and i like it. You can met people from all over the World and have fun.
But the point is you don't meet locals and relations are ephemericals.
So mix up the journey by encounter local ans made some new friens seems to be a fully adventure !

Interests

I am a man of passions.
My main passions are music, IT and networks.
I have the chance to work in my passion, IT.
But it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between work and passion.

Music is perhaps the most important thing to me. It transports you as it can put you in the mood. The feelings it brings are infinite and change with each session and for each person.

The range of feelings it generates is for me one of the most interesting reasons to live. A true purpose in life, discovering and exploring styles through time requires a lifetime of work.

I sometimes like to feel the melancholy that some music can bring because it is a very beautiful and true feeling.

The exchange and listening to the tastes and traditions of others is a very interesting way to discover new things and cultures on the other hand. It is a topic of conversation that brings everyone together.

I am more oriented towards the instrumental although the voice can be an incredible instrument.

I discovered and developed my passion for music at a young age, then at the age of 10 I discovered Supertramp and other bands like Daft Punk (Homework, 1997), it was the beginning of an exploration, a whole bunch of style, that I still continue today.

For a few years I have been passionate about progressive rock of the 70s (the list is very long, my Spotify will talk about it better than me, ask for the link to the profile) which is in the end little known although having had an interesting career in Europe (PFM, Le Orme in Italy ; Krautrock subgenre in Germany; Ange et Magma in France ; Canterbury school in the UK (Google it !) etc.).

So add to the progressive rock psychedelic rock, jazz (fusion to start with) and bossa nova and you'll get my musical atmosphere, non-restrictive, from the last few years!

Strangely, for some people, I don't play an instrument. For me, listening to and admiring the talents and feelings that music brings is enough.

But because I like to contradict myself, I recently decided to try my hand at keyboards. Especially because I am a fan of sounds like the Hammond organ or the Rhodes.

I have other passions that could be considered as interests even if the sensations provided are interesting.
Cinema is one of them, it is a very profound art with inexhaustible genres and productions. Somewhere complementary with music.

I have a lot of others (geography, travel, nature, personal development) but if it would be more fun to discuss it over a beer in a bar or something else with a melon & ham in summer on the shore?

I must not ignore my interest in science and my passion for space, space exploration and discoveries about the origin of the universe and our existence. Maybe it's an atheist thing?

Wow, it would take me hours to fill out this section.

For music see above. Also use the progarchives.net site targeting the 70s to see what I'm listening to in the progressive rock category. Add the classics and their children from bossa nova and add Billy Cobham (Spectrum album, 1973) for the fusion part to name just one.

For literature to be honest, I only recently took the plunge, so my culture is to be done. And it's quite interesting, the things to discover are astronomical.

In this art, I like the quality of productions, the quality that has survived through the ages and whatever the style.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I am not a good teacher and I lack pedagogy and vulgarization skills. However, I work on the pedagogical side (at a low level, everything is relative) and the vulgarization part.

Learn:
I love learning, I constantly read about a lot of subjects, some of which are not in my usual interests. I often lose hours on Wikipedia before discussing it with friends (sometimes) or further research (sometimes also).

Share:
I love sharing my passions with the amateurs and professionals who gravitate around me!
