Hi there! My name is Sam!

I'm very grateful that 25 years ago, my mom put me on this intriguing world after some hard hours of suffering and pushing (at least that's what she always says) ;-)

Although I was raised between cows, meadows and fields on the countryside near the city of Diksmuide,
I'm currently living in Ghent, a very liveable city where I feel at home.

In short, what else might be interesting about me:
- Sports- and movement addict. I always need my daily dosis of moving, handstands, acrobatics, workouts, climbing, yoga or running...
- I currently work as a teacher 'Dutch as a foreign language'.
- I'm pretty passionate about Latin-America - I've spend quite some time in Paraguay and Colombia
- I have a big interest in nature, all kind of sports and other cultures
- I like to travel in a light and independant way, think: hitchhike, backpack, camp, bike-travel...
- Since you can find me on Couchsurfing, I naturally embody a certain curiosity to meet new people
- I love it to try out things I've never done before
- I enjoy spending time to prepere good and healthy food (preferably vegetarian).
- I enjoy being 'on my way' to somewhere I've never been before

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

- The experience to meet new and inspiring people.
- Helping others out simply makes one happy!
- Just sharing and spreading that unique connection between all couchsurfers. I think solidarity is something we sometimes have a lack of in this world. Over time I've noticed that hospitable and welcoming hosts are one of the best ingredients to make a traveler feel at home!

I would like to learn how: to surf, to upgrade my slackline skills, to become a better salsa dancer, to play piano, to do a back-flip, to learn Portuguese...

I can teach you: French, Spanish, Dutch, yoga , handstands... whatever it is you want to learn, there might be something I can help you with :)

As I already mentioned, I also like to cook. I'm not a Michelin chef, but anyway, I can prepare you a healthy and good meal :)
