ODESA INFORMATION:

Cheap Navigation:
First of all I would suggest you to install free offline map of Odessa. In Android market App is named "2GIS", then download Odessa file. It has much more local info than Google Maps (incl public transport) and not consumes internet traffic like Google Maps.

Cheap Hostels:
from 85 UAH (3.5$) per day:
https://m.olx.ua/uk/nedvizhimost/posutochno-pochasovo/posutochno-pochasovo-khostely/odessa/

Cheap place to eat:
"Puzata Hata", 21, Derybasivska Str, 6th Floor of Shopping Center "Europa". Full charge of stomach is 100 UAH 4$ (meat included).

Cheap Catacombs:
There are several private museums of Catacombs, but the cheapest and the biggest is the governmental museum. It's located in village Nerubayske, get there by microautobus N 84 from Privoz autostation. Cost of this museum is ~100 UAH (4$). You can also try to jump to any nearby hole free of charge but you will need dirty clothes, flashlight and graphite pencil to mark your turns on the walls. Catacombs are under all Odessa area at the depth -20 meters so basically any hole is leading to them. But in the center of the city holes are closed to prevent accidents. Open holes can be found at villages Nerubayske, Nati, Kholodna Balka. But better is not to risk and to start from museum. Maybe you will be fully satisfied and will not need anything else.

Cheap Excursion:
Interesting and cheap excursion you can get by riding on tram way N 20, ticket 5 UAH (0.25$) which starts from Khersonsky Square. Reachable by trolleybus N 10 from beneath of Potemkinsky Stairs. This tramway route was built in 1883 and goes through industrial ruins of that time, noisy cicadas insects population at the stop "Bolshevik", cane woods (in warm seasons), Cossacks cemetery (1775), mini Catacombs caves at the stop "Gladkov Str"

Salt Lake Kuyalnik (like Dead Sea):
Bus N 110, 32, 33 from Central railway station will drive you to mineral medical dirt salt lake Kuyalnik, which is so full of salt that you can float on it unaided. There's a lot of free medical dirt and even a little blue clay. Take with you fresh water to rinse salt from your body after swimming. Water is very salty, don't open your eyes under the water, ideally use glasses. Lake is shallow and sun heats it even if the air is cool. There is also a sanatorium where you can take fresh water shower and medical procedures.

Salt Flats (like in Utah):
Bus N 529 Odesa-Adamovka from Novy Rynok bus station. Stop "Stara Emetovka".
