Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Being the best English teacher challenging my students intellectually and linguistically, while trying to learn about who they are as a person.
ABOUT ME
I love learning, teaching, exploring, and living in new places. My two favorite foods are spinach and ice cream (not together and no, I've never had spinach ice cream).
PHILOSOPHY
We feel tension between who we were born to be and who we aspire to become. With the daily choices we choose who we will become. I am choosing to love through the imperfection I am and the flaws I see.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Love meeting new people! I've couchsurfed a couple times and had no idea that spending time with someone who starts as a complete stranger could turn into such wonderful time spent with a new friend!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The first time I surfed it was with three friends in Toronto. Nick, our wonderful host, blew up an air mattress (without a pump!)
Interests
Ice skating/rollerblading, longboarding, bicycling and any activity with wheels. Expanding my horizons by traveling and meeting different people. Swimming, snorkeling/freediving, SCUBA. Sketching random people sitting near me. Painting. Growing plants in my room or outside. Smelling wildflowers. Hiking exploring and camping. Adventures of any kind!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I love to read, and my taste is always changing. I enjoy creative nonfiction (Malcolm Gladwell, Leonard Mlodinow), and worthwhile classics or contemporary literature.
Music: I like listening to the music my friends make and other little-known music. Sufjan Stevens, JJ Heller, Derek Webb, Anathallo are a few of the more well-known artists I like.
Movies: I'm usually not impressed though I do love "Amazing Grace" (about fighting to abolish the slave trade in England). A good documentary is more up my alley.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in an orphanage in Mexico for a month when I was 12 years old and making friends with the orphans. This started my love of travel and the Hispanic culture and language.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about plants- what ones are tasty to eat in the woods- what seeds sprout well- and recognizing random plants. I am also very into art and pen-ink drawings. Recently, I've developed a fascination with sustainable and community-focused living. I want to learn what people live their lives for.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can teach you how to make homemade pasta, cinnamon rolls, or vegan food. If you're learning Spanish, desiring to diagnose your dying houseplant, trying to train your dog, or working on an art project I'd be glad to help in those areas too.
