ABOUT ME

I love how it feels to arrive in a new place and just wander and take it all in.

I'm a teacher and I primarily teach writing. I teach my kids to seek adventure and suck every drop of life they have available to them. It's only right that I do the same.

Our cat, Lola, thinks she's a human.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to stand at "the pearly gates" and be satisfied with the life I lived. I am not yet satisfied, so I have a lot of life left to live.

We hope to host people from all different places and walks of life. The local community of couch surfers is a great way to get connected and we enjoy meeting CSers abroad!

Travel, cooking, eating, people, writing, yoga, good books, music, art, sports, philosophy, Spanish music, languages, relationships, laughing, fun, finding treasure in unexpected places (like dumpsters, rummage sales, street corners, or under my own sofa).

Music, Movies, and Books

Comedies. We love to laugh and we regularly recite lines from our favorites.

Music...we really love everything. Salsa, Bachata, and Reggaeton are among our favorites. Ivan likes hip hop and R & B, Ashley likes alternative pop, and classical --she sings. Ivan is the dancer.

Books are good. All books. Read a book!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? Well....

1) Climbing an active volcano.
2) Running through the streets of Paris with a herd of (my) high school students.
3) British Columbia.
4) Jet skiing in the Bermuda Triangle...and returning.
5) Witnessing a student of mine eat an entire head of lettuce in class. He was preparing for an eating contest...apparently this is a strategy.

I love to cook and I'm always willing to share my kitchen, tiny as it may be!
