About Me

CURRENT MISSION: To hear and share amazing stories! To make friends, and to play music! To cook and eat delicious food! To hike and explore beautiful places!

I travel everywhere with my dog Callie. She is 6 years old and the best dog you'll ever meet!

I like to think of myself as a very loving and enthusiastic host. There is not much more that brings joy to me than creating a beautiful and life changing experience for travelers. I mostly spend my time cooking food for my friends and couchsurfers, soaking in hot springs, hiking with my dog, rock climbing, camping and backpacking, and generally spending time outside. I'm very social and love to dive into deep conversations about philosophy, politics, meaningful life experiences, and great stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been an active member of the CS community since 2011. I have met some of my closest and longest friendships through hosting and traveling on this site. I am on here to build community and friendship.

Before I started using CS, I met some people who were travelling through, and in 48 hours I felt like I'd known them like old friends. I invested my time, my energy, and truly connected with them as fully as I was capable. This was not without consequence--I felt a great sense of loss after their leave--but I think it was an experience that changed my life and made me realize that no matter who it is or how long a person will be in my life, it is incredibly fulfilling to live in the moment with them. In short, transient friends are still friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Electronic dance music, hip hop, R&B, blues, bluegrass, and pretty much every other genre

Books: Fantasy and dystopian future fiction novels. Also modern philosophy

TV/Movies: Atlanta, Broad City, Insecure, South Park, Jane the Virgin, Game of Thrones, Amelie, Children of Men, Apocalypse Now

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My dog Callie is my adventure buddy and travels with me everywhere. We have a special way to tie her into a harness, which is attached to my harness. Together we have climbed a via ferrata in Germany, we have rappelled down slot canyons in southern Utah, we have hiked and camped many miles through the back country mountains in below freezing blizzards, and have traveled more than 20,000 miles by road trip through the USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

*** Honesty: Not only speaking the truth, but being true to yourself.

*** Disinhibition: You cannot be honest if you're inhibited. Let yourself say yes.

*** Generocity: Giving yourself, your time, your experience -- this is a quality that allows you to truly connect.

*** Presense: This involves giving all that you can in each moment and focusing not on the future or past.

*** Passion: Passion brings excitement and depth into your life and into others'.

If you live all of your most valued qualities to the best of your ability in the presence of another human, that is love.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can play ukulele and serenade you with singing. I am very happy to cook food, share stories, play games, and become great friends. Callie the dog will share love with you! She will let you massage her all day long. :)
