About Me

TWO IMPORTANT NOTES PRIOR TO CONTACTING ME:

(1) I strongly encourage you to read all of the "My Home" section of my profile before requesting me.

(2) To learn more about me and my interests, feel free to read the rest of my profile. Point (1) above is really the most important thing to do though :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like to give back to the community that gave me so much during the summer of 2015 when I was living on the road :)

- If you have any common interests to the ones I've listed below, please let me know, and we can share our experiences. If not, then it would seems we have things that we could teach each other.

- Requests too far in advance are hard for me to schedule. Short-notice requests are doable.

- Sometimes I play Eminem songs on my guitar and rap over them. If that bothers you, oh well ;)

- I would very much enjoy if you came to one of my club events (handbalance, yoga, powerlifting, acro yoga, climbing, life drawing, etc.). I'd like our experience to be more than your just using my shower and floor to sleep - don't expect to get bored here!

- That being said, please feel free to use my shower and washing facilities for your clothes. Hygiene is important!

- No smoking in my flat, sorry. You can smoke in the public areas outside.

- No illegal substances or activities in my flat. Outside of my flat is maybe a different story.

- Wi-Fi! Wi-What? Free Wi-Fi!

- I'm in the office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You'll have to leave the flat with me or before me in the morning at around 7 or 8 a.m. On weekdays, I'm usually in bed around 11 p.m. to midnight. Weekends are always up in the air. We'll work something out if you want to do something or have your own plans.

- Once I accept your request, please respond back to acknowledge that you will be staying with me; please also contact me a few days before to confirm that you are still coming.

- One or two night stays are ideal.

- Once again, read the "My Home" section of my profile :)

Interests

- Fitness is one of my main passions. I enjoy lifting at the gym, ultimate frisbee, yoga, skating, climbing and bouldering, acroyoga, hand balance, cycling, boxing, and pretty much anything else that gets me outside or moving around.

- I'm a fairly musical person. I've played guitar for a number of years. I'd be happy to play a little for/with you.

- I can tie a bow tie.

- I eat healthy things on the weekdays for the most part, and weekends are for enjoying food and wine and beer :)

- In my undergraduate studies, I studied physics and math. Now, I'm a research associate in Quantum Engineering at the University of Bristol, and I love it!

- Sometimes, I stand naked in front of groups of 10-20 people and let them paint and draw me.

My interests definitely go beyond these bullets though, don't worry. Let's talk about anything and everything!

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music - I like all kinds of music, and if you play any instruments we can jam.

- For movies, I'm a Star Trek nerd. I've seen the whole Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager, and Enterprise. I'm currently working on Discovery. Yes, I have a Star Trek costume - Captain Kirk.

- Books - I'll read anything that I can learn something from! Really enjoyed the Autobiography of Malcolm X, and Alex Haley's following novel Roots!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent the summer between my undergraduate and postgraduate studies driving across America with my co-brother-in-law. We drove 16,000 miles (25,750 km; 128,000 furlongs; 2.7217247x10^-9 light years) to see all of the 48 contiguous United States. You learn a lot seeing so many different places, meeting so many wonderful people, and trying to live somewhat comfortably out of a car called Home for 75 days.

I'd like to host guests from all over and share our amazing experiences!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Let's go outside and I'll teach you some acroyoga. It's a lot easier than it looks, promise. Or I can teach you about quantum physics if you really want. Honestly, I'm happy to share with you everything I can that you'd like to learn :)

Learn: Anything, literally anything. Let me know what you're good at!

Share: I'm still learning Bristol (and always will be), so let's go explore the city some!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't have a car, so it would be tough for me to pick you up. Worry not, however, as public transportation is plentiful around here! On your day of departure, if you don't leave until early or late afternoon, I am happy to hold onto your bags in my office so you can continue to explore the city.

My kitchen has your standard cooking equipment, but you may mostly be in charge of your own food. You can store some things in our fridge though. I really enjoy cooking, so maybe we could share some recipes :)

You should never show up to someone's house empty handed - I am sure your mother taught you that. Sometimes not it's not convenient to bring something, so do something nice when you arrive. Here are a few suggestions:

- I collect key chains from various states and countries. I have one from 48 of the 50 US states (not Hawaii or Alaska), one from Canada, France, Lebanon, Scotland, Germany, Netherlands, China, Denmark, Switzerland, and England. If you represent any country or territory not mentioned, well, I collect key chains.

- A small trinket or something edible from your city/country.

- Come to one of my club activities with me
