About Me

Hey i'm Adam from the Isle of Man, i'm 27 this year and hoping to do a lot more travelling in and around Europe. I am a polite and open minded person and love meeting new people and seeing new places. Equally comfortable in a small town or countryside as i am in a big city, you can find me photographing pretty buildings or interesting people, enjoying a good cup of coffee or tea with a group or by myself or looking for the next band or artist I'm currently infatuated with.

Unfortunately i am currently unable to host and will be only looking to stay with hosts.
However if you're visiting Berlin I can show you some cooler and more authentic spots, the best bars and nightclubs as well as any events I'm aware of. I’m an avid fan of underground culture, art and music so I’m always keeping an eye and ear out for these things. Other than that I'm up for seeing live bands, there are so many to see in Berlin!

I make some music, poetry and DJ a little although they’re mostly just hobbies for now. I put up lots of music recommendations on my Instagram stories if you’re looking for new music. My newest set is up on my soundcloud - A/D/H

I'm also working on writing a short story that I hope to turn into a novel.

I take pictures/portraits with disposable cameras!
The photos I take will end up on my Instagram under the name of 'smalltimeisland'. Feel free to check them out!

My most recent photos of my travels are at the bottom of my Couchsurfing profile pictures.

Music, Movies, and Books

My go to favourites artists/bands change from week to week but the ones i find myself listening to the most are Mac Demarco, Mareux, and Tame Impala. I'm the sort of person that'll give any genre of music or artist a listen, i really think it's the best way to be. There's nothing better than being in a room full of people that are there to have a good time and connect with one another in a positive way. I've listened to a jazz band up close whilst sitting on a chair with coffee in hand, danced wildly in a pitch black underground car park to techno and head banged with a crowd to some psychedelic rock. To think people miss out on these different yet beautiful experiences is a real shame but then again each to their own.

Love a book that makes me think, have been reading various books on modern philosophy, psychology and culture. Can't beat a bit of Tolkien, J.K Rowling and George R. R. Martin.

When it comes to films I'll watch pretty much anything as long as it's not too dumbed down. I prefer a film to capture my attention, make me think and conjure my emotions. There is something very introspective about enveloping yourself in someone's vision or perspective, you can learn a lot that way. My favourite Directors that come to mind are Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Danny Boyle, Hayao Miyazaki, David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino and Ridley Scott however I'm always looking for new people to add to that list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited Iceland, such a beautiful country. One i hope to see again soon as i barely scratched the surface.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to think I've got a pretty decent English vocabulary so would be happy to teach you some new words. If you've not heard of the Isle of Man I can tell you all about it. I'm hoping to learn more languages however slowly that may take so will always be open to learning a couple more words. Other than that I'm quite interested in learning anything someone may have to offer. I can share my thoughts on the world, music you'll hopefully love, places I've visited worth seeing more than once, yoga positions and meditative thinking. Also I have a passion for good food and I’m constantly seeking out new places in Berlin. If we click I can show you a few of my favourites.
