Overview
About Me
There isn't much to say. I've been an itinerant for a while and had some strange experiences from that-in France, Italy and Ireland. Some of those experiences were quite interesting, as I discover now being settled down and bored out of my mind. In normal life, I like reading, and that's mostly what I do outside the usual stuff, along with some political organising-I used to compose music a lot, and preferably I'd continue to be doing that, but the itinerancy cut that off.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of people having the chance to see the world, unlimited by their financial situation, in a way which preserves them as individuals (not clients) , in which one meets another person not for the desire to get something out of them, but for the sake of charity and of meeting them. Also, at the moment, I'm taking exams as an external candidate. And in the wrong city. So I need somewhere to crash in London.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Prokofiev, Janacek, Leonard Cohen, Bach, Oliver Knussen, Damon Alburn.
Movies: Hour of the Wolf, Barry Lyndon, The Iron Giant, Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
Books: Ted Hughes, Harold Pinter, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. There's a Russian nonsense writer called Daniil Kharms I really like too. At the moment I'm reading Vaclav Havel's prison letters.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once I was working as a event caterer, and the Sheikh of Dubai was there, and I arrested him. Or announced him under arrest, for crimes against humanity. And rather predictably got beaten up by six men.
Teach, Learn, Share
Can teach you some second-rate French.
I was supposed to have healed this fanatical Christian when I was five, and perhaps that'll be transferable.
What I Can Share with Hosts
However if you want stuff to do together suggest something, I'm curious.
