ABOUT ME

I just finished my undergraduate studies in Systems Design Engineering which most notably involved working in design teams to create things that solve interesting and challenging problems. When not designing, I love making new friends who help me paint an ever-bigger picture of what I want to do with my time and life on this planet.

I am a bit shy to start out, but once I get the slightest bit comfortable, I'm very outgoing and sociable--even goofy. I like learning new things, pushing my limits and going on adventures. However, I'm sometimes a little contemplative, so just call me back to the real world! :)

Je viens de finir mes études universitaires en Systems Design Engineering où j'ai passé beaucoup temps à travaller en équipe de design pour concevoir des solutions qui résolvent des problèmes intéressants qui touchent notre société. Quand je ne fais pas du design, j'adore faire de nouvelles connaissances qui m'aident à colorer un dessin toujours plus vif de ce que je veux faire de mon temps sur cette folle planète.

Pour commencer, je suis souvent un peu timide, mais dès que je suis un tout petit peu confortable, je suis très extraverti et sociable--et parfois un peu fou. J'aime apprendre de nouvelles choses, repousser mes limites et entreprendre des aventures--même des petites. Cependant, je suis par moments un peu songeur alors il suffit de me rappeler au vrai monde. :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've been to a couple of gatherings in cities that I'm visiting, such as Montreal and Paris. Every time, I have a great time, meet fascinating people and learn all sorts of new things. For instance ask me about Belgium's crazy political system, or how olive oil is made, or what is wrong with UK immigration... ;p

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm totally new to CS, but many friends have encouraged me to do it over the years claiming that I would thoroughly enjoy it. I'm very excited! Though I have never CS'ed, I have been guests for many near-strangers and I have been told that I'm a great guest. =D

CS est totalement nouveau pour moi, mais ça fait un bout de temps qu'on me le suggère en me disant que ça me plairait sûrement. Je suis très excité de l'essayer. Malgré le fait que je n'aie jamais fais du CS, j'ai déjà été visiteur chez plusieurs étrangers et on m'a souvent dit que je suis un invité agréable. Alors allez, accordez-moi une première chance!

Interests

-I LOVE LANGUAGES! (learning and practising languages)
-Swing dancing
-I love hiking and cycling.
-I've also just started with rock-climbing and it's great!
-I'm an avid writer and enjoy reading tremendously.
-I'm always down for going to the theatre.
-I love learning how to cook new things espeically with other people!
-Music obviously; I'm learning to play the guitar. I love trying to make music with friends... :P
-I'm fascinated by social and environmental problems and how they are intertwined with economic and political problems. I like learning about these complicated messes and how we can possibly solve them.
- I like learning what I like (because clearly, I'm not done!)

-J'aime aussi la randonnée et le cyclisme.
-Je viens de me mettre dans l'escalade et je trouve ça très excitant!
-Je lis et j'écris avec rapacité.
-Le théâtre m'attire beaucoup.
-J'aime apprendre à cuisiner de nouveaux plats, en particulier avec des amis.
-La musique bien évidemment; j'apprends à jouer de la guitare. J'aime *essayer* de faire de la musique avec mes amis... Grande source de folies...
-Je suis fasciné par les problèmes sociaux et environnementales et comment ils sont entrelacés avec nos problèmes économiques et politiques. J'aime m'informer sur ces fouillis et les solutions possibles.
-J'aime apprendre ce que j'aime (puisque je n'ai manifestement pas fini...)

I have a very wide range of interests in music: Coldplay, Muse, Grand Corps Malade, Les Cowboys Fringants, Joe Dassin, Sigur Ros, Buena Vista Social club... lots of folk, Middle-Eastern, Gypsy and Celtic music...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting by the lake in Lucerne after sunset and witnessing a sick yellow overcome everything and extinguish the day. I even reached to remove the sunglasses I thought I was wearing.

- I'm a passionate programmer who could offer guidance.
- I have developed a much sought-after expertise in silly dances.
- I have good intuition about a lot of 'how things work' questions. So go ahead! Ask me!

- Je parle l'anglais, le français, l'allemand l'espagnol et un peu de farsi.
- Je suis un programmeur qui pourrait donner des conseils.
- Ça fait 20 ans que je développe une expertise très recherchée en tout ce qui concerne les danses absurdes.
