COUCHSURFING AND TRAVEL STORY

Hi, Dzień dobry!

My name is Agata! I am 26 years old and I have my Couchsurfing account since 04.2022, when I realized that I was focused on being local instead of being global. I knew that I am polish as well as I am european and citizen of the World and now I am embracing it.

Before I started my Couchsurfing journey I visited only 4 countries, but I loved those trips and I was so happy, when I could study map, talk with people, try to order food in their language and assimilate with their culture. So I want to discover world when I'm still young.

Right now my list is getting bigger:
05.2022 - Sweden (Stockholm, Sigtuna)
07.2022 - Netherlands (Maastricht)
07.2022 - Belgium (Brussels, Liège, Aywaille, Spa)
07.2022 - Luxembourg (Wincrange, Clervaux)
07.2022 - France (Florange, Strasbourg, Colmar, Truckheim and other little villages in Alsace)
09.2022 - Belgium (Liège, Aywaille)
12.2022 - Poland (Kraków)
05.2023 - Poland (Wrocław)
05.2023 - Latvia (Riga, Jurmāla)
07.2023 - Hungary (Budapest)
07-08.2023 - Romania (Timişoara, Lugoj, Oradea, Arad)
08.2023 - Serbia (Belgrade)
03.2024 - Spain (Barcelona)
04.2024 - Poland (Trzebnica, Wrocław, Wałbrzych)

POLAND

I know my country well, I visited Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw (3-4 times each), couple small but beautiful places like Kazimierz Dolny, Puławy, Mikołajki, Lubin. I have been in polish mountains: Bieszczady (a lot), Tatry (a little), Sudety (a little). I can give you a lot recommendations about places to visit, eat and have fun.

My family have place to stay in the village close to Tricity in Kashubian disctrict.

ABOUT ME

👩‍🎓 I'm Master of Psychology. I wrote my thesis about architecture of choice and how Polish people accept it in context of health (in obesity and risk of obesity).

👩‍💻 On a daily basis, I work from home as copywriter and customer service. In 2023, I changed my job after 5 years of working with children as teacher's help or psychologist. I did it because I needed a more flexible schedule and became burned out in my last job.

🙆‍♀️I'm usually full of hope and smile (a lot of people tells me that I am a ray of sunshine :))
☔️ I know it's really important to let yourself have “rainy days” too. I try to take care of my mental health as I care about my body.
🌿I love nature, so I can walk in the forests, mountains for all day.
👩‍🍳 I like to eat and cook.
🌇 Furthermore, I love my Gdańsk and I know some legends about Main City, so If you visit my town maybe I will have time to show you this beautiful place!

I have my own flat, I'm sleeping in one bedroom, second bedroom is taken by my friend Basia. There is also living room with two sofas. Each sofa is only 186 cm long, but there is also floor, I have sleeping pad and working on buying a mattress! So If you are planning a trip to Gdańsk, contact me and I will decide If we are able to host you on the date you specify!

I have a cute cat named Joga (ang. Yoga). I named her like that, because she is so flexible and makes weird poses when you pet her. She is allowed to sleep everywhere, so be prepared for some noises sometimes. We try to take care to hide all loud toys before we go to sleep, but sometimes she is running through whole flat like she is chased by a ghost :)

🏠 Please read “My home” section If you want to stay at my place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to meet new people who were born and raised in a different culture. I am very curious about cultural differences, approach to life and traditions.

It would be great if I could get to know you better, your roots, what you like in your home country and what you don't. What did you find in another that you missed in yours?

Music, Movies, and Books

🎵 I like Polish musicians such as Dawid Podsiadło, sanah, Kwiat Jabłoni, Lor. I am also fan od The Pretty Reckless, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys, Otis Redding, Leon Bridges. I like a lot of types of music, which I listen according to my humor.
🎞️ In Good Hands, Shawshank Prisoner Redemption, Holiday... | If "my brain is tired" I choose movies that suit its capabilities, so I often watch poor and predictable movies, but they do their job - they relax me.
📕 Normal people by Sally Rooney | I also read other items, e.g. popular science, psychological or completely not related to my interests, but interesting and expanding knowledge about the world, e.g. Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall (about geopolitics).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

🇪🇸 I escaped from my family during trip in Barcelona only to climp Tibidabo and it was amazing feeling of adventure 🤭
🚂 I was travelling by train from Warsaw to Gdańsk, no one talked to me during this trip, but when I left this train and went to bus stop someone tapped me on the shoulder. It turned out that it was my co-passenger, old Belgian guy who was looking for his hotel. It was on really weird street named "Grząska" which is kinda impossible to say correctly by foreigners and he asked me for help. So I said - Let's go. We went together through Old City of Gdańsk and shared our stories. As "thank you" for my help I received postcard and letter. I think I will remember Daniel my whole life, because it was really "meet cute" and we exchanged a lot of nice observations. I really like this memory. I still have contact with him!
🎤 When I was at the Polish festival (Slot Art Festival) during a shower on a trailer (10 showers separated by a thin wall), I sang with all the people taking a shower at the same time in three languages.
👧🏼 When I was 9 years old me and my friends had the ugliest playground in the neighborhood, so I made survey with everyone, then draw our dream playground, made a notebook with all apartment numbers that were surrounding our playground, collect more than 80% of signatures and went for a meeting of the housing community to show them what I made and that a lot of neighbors agree for our project. I was only 9, so I cried and they gave me some crayons, because meetings was in my old kindergarden. My parents didn't know what I was doing.
🙋🏼‍♀️I was late for my Flixbus from Timişoara-Budapest-Gdańsk, so I was chasing it to the next stop in the taxi. Failed. Tried two Blablacar drivers. Failed. Hitchhike till Romanian-Hungarian border with young couple, then with polish lorry driver to Bratislava. From Bratislava to Vienna and then to Gdańsk I catched Flixbus. My way home was supposed to be 24h, but became 36h... it was amazing adventure.
