Overview
About Me
We are both Boston natives who quit our computer-heavy 9-5 jobs in August 2015 to explore the US and Southeast Asia. We had worked for a few years, and thought that it would be best to travel now, while we don't have anything to hold us down at home!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We joined couch surfing because we have heard so many great stories from friends that evolved around people that they met couchsurfing and places that completely changed for them once they were shown around by locals.
During our past three months traveling we have been staying mainly at hostels, meeting tourists from all over the world. This has been a great experience, and we have made great friendships and learned a lot about other countries and cultures. Throughout our trip though, we have felt a distant from the people who actually live in the cities that we are visiting. From now on our goal is to forgo the hostel for a more local experience couchsurfing.
Interests
Alex -
I love being outdoors, especially when hiking or biking. So far on this trip I have had a blast scuba diving, and am thinking about trying our spearfishing in the crystal clear water.
A typical night at home, while Katherine cooks dinner, I'll be mixing up some bourbon cocktails and hanging out with our room-mates.

At home, I enjoy spending time cooking a nice dinner (normally mexican or southeast asian) and baking desserts. The only two things that I am currently missing about the US is peanut butter (which I am arranging a friend to bring to Thailand for me) and cheddar cheese.
I am normally working on some artsy project that involves drawing, cutting up bits of paper, or photo-shopping.
