Overview
About Me
Hello, my name is Akinari. I am an undergraduate engineering student from Japan, studying aerospace and mechanical engineering at Tohoku University.
I enjoy traveling as a way to learn about different cultures, ways of thinking, and everyday life. Rather than only visiting famous tourist spots, I am especially interested in understanding how people live, work, and interact in each place.
As a guest, I am quiet, respectful, and independent. I keep shared spaces clean, follow house rules carefully, and usually spend my days exploring the city, visiting museums or universities, or studying. I value calm and meaningful conversations and respect personal space.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because I believe staying with locals is one of the best ways to understand a country beyond guidebooks and tourist experiences.
I value cultural exchange, meaningful conversations, and learning from different perspectives. Couchsurfing allows me to experience travel in a more personal and authentic way.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy listening to a wide range of music, especially classical, jazz, and instrumental music.
For movies, I like documentaries and films that explore human relationships, history, or science.
I enjoy reading non-fiction books about science, technology, and society, as well as novels that focus on cultural or philosophical themes.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I have done is presenting my research at an international aerospace conference.
As an undergraduate student, I worked on a research project related to space systems and engineering, and I had the opportunity to present it to researchers from many countries. It was challenging but very meaningful, and it taught me how to communicate complex ideas clearly across cultures.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share perspectives on Japanese culture, daily life, and education. I am also happy to talk about science, engineering, and university life in Japan.
I would love to learn about different culture, local traditions, and everyday life, as well as hear about my host’s experiences and views on society and education.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories about life in Japan, Japanese culture, and my experiences as an engineering student.
If time allows, I can cook a simple Japanese dish, help with small tasks, or simply offer good conversation. I always try to be a respectful and reliable guest.
