Overview
About Me
Fresh from a 30,000 km journey from Iceland to Japan, mostly done by bus, train, and ferry, I've settled for the moment just north of Patong (Phuket) in Kamala, a much homelier--yet still partyable--small town. Transportation here involves taking a taxi for 400 THB or renting a motorbike at up to 200 THB per day. You can also rent a regular pedal bike for 100 THB daily, if you're into X-TREME hills. The beach is maybe 20 minutes away by walking, along with a cheap Big C supermarket. It's a quieter neighborhood, but bars and the main road are literally around the corner.
I'd definitely welcome any and all to my house. We are three divemasters, and each of us has our own private room. You would be placed in your own corner of the house with a comfortable bed. Normally I'd offer up an air mattress, but there's also a large king-sized mat, so if you're a couple or a Duggar or even just really love to eat, there is room for you. There's also space in the cellar and a recently discovered attic crawl space, so if you're a vampire or whatever, no questions asked.
We can chat or drink or drunkenly chat and reminisce about all our fondest childhood memories together. If you're not into hanging out, that's fine with me, and that may even have to happen during certain days, since at some point I will likely be diving all morning/afternoon and working on a degree by night, but I'll be sure to hook you up.
The only thing I smoke is kids on the b-ball court, but you can smoke other things at the table area right outside or on the balcony. I'm also available for weddings--I became an ordained minister for free online.
I'm hoping to meet many different kinds of people who can either hold a nice conversation or be wonderfully awkward in total silence. Either one will probably be fun for both of us. I know how it is to couchsurf around the world, and it's time to return the favor. Send me a message--Kamala can be your peek into a more normalized Thai life, while maintaining easy access to the excitement of Patong.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've had toga parties both above and in rice fields, and I've both hosted and been hosted all around the world. Now it's my turn to open my doors indefinitely.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One night, I helped peddle 600 chicken sandwiches at a party in Rio de Janeiro. The next morning, I helped some more by trying to sell the remaining 587 on the beach at Copacabana. When I left, I was offered the choice of a chicken sandwich or a chicken sandwich for the road. I went for the chicken sandwich on the recommendation of my host and never regretted it.
Interests
Ambitious travel plans that are somehow executed, underwater photography, video games, the entire script of Star Fox 64, languages, rocketry, certain types of milk.
