About Me

I've worked mainly as a builder / construction manager for almost the last decade whilst having various stints as an English teacher abroad. I have been living in Melbourne the last year after spending several years living and working in various places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had truly great experiences on couchsurfing. Not only have I created lasting friendships, I've been able to truly immerse myself in the host's home city or place, an experience rarely afforded via other travel methods. On the flip side, I greatly enjoy hosting others. When in my hometown there is that ever great tendency to interact with a similar group of people. Couchsurfing counteracts this social inertia with its injection of fresh and exciting faces. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with others, especially those from vastly opposing backgrounds. I love the personal growth that can be gained through the mere interaction with another person, whose viewpoints and perspectives can challenge and positively enhance my own.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Perhaps my most memorable thing I did was volunteering on an olive grove in rural Andalusia, where I was assisting in the construction of eco-buildings, using materials all sourced from the land.

Living in Bsharri, a small devoutly Christian town, deep in the mountains of Lebanon. Looking down into the Kadisha Valley still ranks as the most stunning, gorgeous and awe inspiring view of my life.

Witnessing sunset in the Wadi Rum desert (translates to 'Valley of the Moon'). Almost unearthly in its landscape, this desert location is unbelievably remarkable in its beauty. The variety of the yellows and reds of the undulating sand dunes, together with the sharp and dark granite mountains is truly breathtaking.
