About Me
Hi there!
I'm Akshay (or Aki), I'm an open minded traveller, who was spent time working, volunteering and generally mooching around the world.
Born and raised in London with parents from Africa and Indian heritage, I can safely say I'm a child of the world and have grown up with very different cultures as part of my identity, which I love sharing with others.
I've always been curious... I love diving into other cultures, finding out about others experiences and stories. Whether it's having a beer or three, sharing music, or learning about local food. I'm all about creating meaningful bonds and experiences with other
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm new to Couchsurfing, I didn't really consider it before. I have done homestays in India and Korea which have all been amazing. But what convinced me was meeting some couch surfers in Goa they were incredibly like-minded in their curiosity and willingness to throw themselves out there into new worlds, that I bonded instantly with them and they sold me on the world of Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all music, one of the great things about travelling is picking up music I'd have never heard of otherwise. I listen to reggae, punk, folk, blues, country, electronic. You name it there's probably something I like within that genre.
I've had an obsession with film with my dad owning a video shop, I was surrounded by it from a young age. I love all film as long as it's good (and sometimes really bad) I also have a love for world cinema seeing how storytelling is so different across different culture
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've spent time volunteering at a school in the Himalayas, it's now my home away from home. The people there have now becoming family, so much so I go back there every year or so. Teaching the kids from ages 4 - 12 they were crazy, cheeky and loved to misbehave but so warm and loving they would bring in food their parents farmed we would cook it. Also it being India there were festivals nearly every week
