Overview
About Me
For the last few years I’ve been working as an academic ghostwriter. It’s a remote job with a lot of flexibility so I am using this opportunity to travel a lot across Asia at present.
Previously, I did lots of travel around India sometimes on my cycle and sometimes backpacking. I am doing this primarily to find places which are ecologically preserved and retain traditional lifestyles. I spent around 6 months in Ladakh as a volunteer teacher. For those who are not aware, Ladakh is the Indian part of the Tibetan plateau.
Initially, I was building up to be a researcher in the domain of Fluid Mechanics, it’s a way of explaining waves and clouds using the language of math. However, I lost steam somewhere along the way and now am more inclined to search for a slow-paced sustainable lifestyle with a lot of spare time to read, learn and explore.
One of the major highlights of my life was my cycling on the Leh-Manali highway which is the highest road(on average) in the world. I did it by myself and it has given me a lot of self-belief that I can go out and survive in harsh situations. My upbringing in the capital city of Delhi never taught me that.
I like learning about nature and spending time alone with it. One of my strong interests is to learn more about plant-based medicine in India. Recently, one of my mentors has exposed me to the world of birds. I also would like to learn more maths and mountaineering at a slow pace.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like traveling alone and find the idea of staying in a hotel quite stupid. I'd rather stay with a local and be grateful for the hospitality, rather than pay someone off. If I find hosts, I think it'll be easier to get to know the place better.
Meeting people across different folds of life enriches me a lot. It allows me to see what kind of options are there.
I hate to see that the world today tied up in borders and conflicts and I think this platform is a good way of breaking that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-- In December 2019, I visited the remote village of Sapi to teach. It was a snow-blocked village where we had to walk 10 kms in snow just to get out to the nearest town. The village was at 3800 m and totally cut off from modern civilization.
---In September 2017, I cycled from the base of Chang La in Ladakh to Pangong Lake, the road was around 4000m in altitude more or less. By the time I started my return journey, it had already become quite dark. Riding back to this village called Durbuk, in Ladakh, fearing for my life, yet confident somehow, I think it's quite memorable. I ended up challenging myself too much on this ride.
---I also cycled on the highest highway in the world, the Leh-Manali highway. This is another challenging thing I did in July 2018.

--- I did a solo cycling ride in Markha valley in July 2018. It is a famous trekking route.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people conversational English and a bit of Hindi. I am a math whiz and can teach kids mathematics. I also know a bit about building endurance through diet and lifestyle.
I want to learn more about ethnobotanical practices of different communities across the Indian subcontinent for now.
I know about some very simple meditation practices from India and can share that knowledge with people.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a functional understanding of ancient India, and Indian philosophy. I have a great collection of books on Buddhist and Hindu thought if someone is interested.
Also, I can share some information to make frugal and long-term travel possible.
I can also share my perspective on climate change, the effects of which I have seen in Ladakh.
