About Me

Hii, I am Alex and I come from Belgrade, Serbia. I was born and raised in city of Pancevo (i doubt you heard of it) but now I am living in student dorm in Belgrade. I love to travel (i mean who doesnt), but unlike many people who enjoy just paying some tourist agency so they can get their picture under Eiffel tower I prefer to really experience culture and gain many new friends by doing so. I guess thats why I am on this website

Serbia is country of Nikola Tesla and maybe there is something in my genes that made me fall in love with math and physics and later become student of Electrical engineering, who dreams of devising sustainable clean energy power system.

Beside that, major part of my life is love for sport, either watching or actively playing. I have been playing water polo for 11 years, last year i started playing amateur football league with friends and run half marathon in april 2019.

I also enjoy hiking, reading (a lot), learning about history (roman republic), learning random skills, watching movies and hanging out with my friends. Ooh and food, god i love food and eating.

I am a younger brother of amazing sister who is always taking care of me and giving me hints how to live life fully. Also I am a son of 2 legends who selflessly love me and support my crazy ideas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and constantly reassure myself that world is amazing place full of awesome people just waiting to be met. This seems like a great way to easily combine those two things by traveling easy and meeting new people. I am leaving in a dorm at the moment so its impossible for me to be host, but i hope i will have that chance in the future. My friends all had really great experience with Couchsurfing so I decided to trust them and try it myself

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste varies a lot but lets say that my favourite bands are RHCP, Arctic Monkeys, Rammstein, Sabaton, AC DC, Hladno pivo (croatian punk rock), Franz Ferdinand, Muse, 2Cellos, Led Zeppelin

Big fan of Tarantino, Nolan and Ritchie but I would say that the favorite movies are LOTR trilogy

I am a bookworm I read whenever i find time on my kindle. Lately i am mostly reading nonfiction books, however its always nice to drift away from reality with some fine story. Farhenhite 451 is the book that made a big impression on me lately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am volunteering in local educational/recreational center for refugees where i teach math, serbian and english to the kids, teenagers and people who had to run away from their homes. Center is founded and run by foreign activist who during years managed to gather fine library (even i borrowed some books), but all books were in english. It was a bit paradoxical when some students asked my for books in Serbian to practice and read but I couldnt offer any. So I contacted principle from my former High school and we managed to organize book collecting in school. Thing that amazed me the most is that people brought more than we asked for, they brought coloring books, crayons, puzzles, board games and quite many books. Best thing is that it seemed very easy, I just got the idea and with help of students councilor it was quickly organized and i felt that i made an real impact

Teach, Learn, Share

I will gladly teach you basic Serbian especially words that relate to drinking and eating and I hope to learn those words on hosts native tongue as well. Also if someone at your home has trouble with math homework i can step in. I like to think that i am king of useless skills so I can share with you my skills of juggling, origami, rubick cube solving, spinning pen.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my stories, spirit, jokes, positive energy. On my travels i learned that talking about my culture and discovering all the similarities and differences is one very interesting experience so i will gladly share that with you .I love to eat, unfortunately i am not much of a cook, but I think I could find a way to make some serbian dish, worst case scenario I bring some Serbian snack. Of course if i am staying with you I will make sure to bring some gift you can remember me by.
