About Me
ABOUT ME
My name is Oleksandr but you can call me Alex / Olek. My homeland is Ukraine, country of picturesque landscapes, beautiful cities and friendly people. At the age of 17 I've moved to Poland to study computer science at Wroclaw University of Technology. I appreciate all kinds of people, with the exception of those having impudent and narcissistic character.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Usually, I participate by showing some famous or hidden bits and pieces of my city to those who wish to learn about it. I'm a walking partner and a talker, sometimes a history and culture interpreter.
When the situation is reverse I keep walking, but tend to ask a lot of questions along the way.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Mostly quite positive, some even better.
Interests
I like things starting with L: linguistics, languages, literature.
I adore watching films with an incredible plot :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Books worth reading:
"Think of a Number" by J. Verdon. The debut novel of an american writer; the classic thriller. Impeccably built plot with recognizable details, breathtaking characters and conflicts of real life.
"1984" by G. Orwell, frankly speaking I'd have recommended it to almost everyone, whose taste in reading is somehow heated up by sci-fi stuff.
"A Clockwork Orange" by A. Burgess couldn't be an exception either.
Movies I appreciate:
"21", "Seven Pounds", "The Next Three Days", "Black Hawk Down ", "Toki o kakeru shôjo", "From Paris with Love", "Chasing Mavericks", "The Guardian", "Shi mian mai fu", "Enemy at the Gates", "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas", "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", "RocknRolla", "Law Abiding Citizen", "The Illusionist", "Safe House", "Intouchables", "The Bucket List", "Limitless", "Shutter Island", "The Grey", "Jumper", "War Photographer", "That's It, That's All.", "The Art of Flight", "Lucky Number Slevin", "Eight Below", "Schindler's List ", "Gladiator", "The Italian Job", "Snatch", "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World".
Serial films:
"The Code", "Lie to Me", "Desu nôto", "Breaking Bad", "House M.D.", "Game of Thrones", "Halt & Catch Fire", "Da Vinci's Demons", "Wayward Pines", "Fargo", "Utopia", "Sherlock", "Vikings", "12 Monkeys".
Music:
There are no certain borders of my musical preferences. Nevertheless, among my favourite musical bands I'd like to highlight Rise Against (concert visited in Warsaw, 2015) & Enter Shikari (concert visited in Kiev, 2013), Placebo & Radiohead, Bring Me The Horizon & Adept, Show Me A Dinosaur & God Is An Astronaut, Muse & Broken Iris, Moby & M83, Kasabian & 30 Seconds To Mars, Zeromancer & Blue Stahli and so on.
A huge impact on what I started listening after, was given by "That's It, That's All" snowboarding film, series of Need for Speed games and 8 years spent in Counter-Strike 1.6 moviemaking community.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Drowned a bike in Odra river (Wroclaw).
Round 7 days trip around Iceland.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach me about your country and about your language. Teach me how to write in it, or how to say hi. Teach me an untranslatable word. Tell me about your favorite writer or translate your favorite poem for me. Share some good music or movies, cook something from your cuisine. Perhaps I could do the same for you.
