About Me

Hello fellow travel enthusiasts! I'm Aleksandra, a 26-year-old adventurer currently living in London. For the past five years, this vibrant city has been my home base as I explore the wonders of the UK and Europe. I'm always on the lookout for like-minded travel buddies to share experiences and create unforgettable memories. Whether it's attending events, discovering hidden gems, or embarking on outdoor adventures, I'm excited to connect with others who share my passion for travel!

On a more personal note, I an a very positive, adventurous and dynamic person with a wide range of hobbies. I enjoy all types of sports, such as swimming, skiing, cycling, weightlifting and hiking. I like visiting museums and learning about history and politics. I enjoy cooking and testing out new recipes. I try to use my phone as little as possible and live in the moment and so I avoid social media as I prefer to pick up the phone and have a good quality catch up with friends and family where I get to hear their voice and find out first hand about their experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that travel is not just about the destinations, but about the connections and experiences along the way. Meeting new people from different backgrounds enriches my journeys and adds a layer of authenticity to my travels. I love sharing stories, exchanging cultural insights, and creating memories with fellow travellers and hosts. I seek new experiences, authentic connections and the opportunity to make unforgettable memories and friends for life!

I love visiting new places and discovering different cultures through traditions, architecture and food. Planning a trip excites me like nothing else. The reason I am on couch surfing is because as a female traveller I like to have some predictability and feeling of safety and therefore steer away from hostels. I believe a shared memory is worth so much more and so I want to be able to connect with someone local to the place I want to visit as I'm sure they will be passionate about their hometown and will be able to give me a recommendation or two.

I completely understand everyone has their own life, work and obligations to attend, so I don't expect you to give me a tour or keep me company (unless you want to) and I'm equally happy to just catch up for a 10 minute coffee or to visit your favourite place of the city together. Again, it all depends on the host's availability. Also, I believe it is important for the hosts to know who they're letting into their home as trust works both ways and that's why I find myself on couchsurfing. :)

Interests

My interests are as diverse as the places I love to visit. I have a deep appreciation for art and history, often spending my weekends exploring museums or taking long walks along the Thames. I'm an avid hiker and cyclist, always seeking out new trails and scenic routes. My love for literature is matched by my enthusiasm for discovering new food spots around London. I'm also a Christmas fanatic and a coffee lover!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I like different genres of music, from classical and jazz, to hip hop, house and reggaeton. It depends on the mood and the setting.
Movies - I enjoy Action/Thriller, Rom-coms and sitcoms. I am also a big fan of Sci-fi such as Interstellar!
Books - my favourite genre to read is classics. Particularly generational sagas, such as The Thorn Birds set in the Australian outback. My favourite foreign book is Therese Raquin by Emile Zola. I've read it 3 times in two different languages and I absolutely love how raw it is. And one that I hold very dear to my heart is a Bulgarian classic that is a generational saga set in the 1900s and is a culturally fundamental piece of work!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At 18 years old I got on a flight and moved to the USA. That was my first time leaving my home country and the experience completely changed my worldview. That first flight triggered a snowball effect and since then I moved back to Southern Spain, back to the USA a second time, and finally found myself in the UK where I've been for about 5 years now.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I bring a spirit of enthusiasm and a genuine interest in connecting with my hosts. I love sharing stories and experiences from my travels, and I'm always eager to learn about new cultures and perspectives. I can offer engaging conversations about a wide range of topics, from classical literature and history to contemporary London life. If you're a fan of "The Office (US)," get ready for some fun quotes and shared laughs. I'm also happy to cook a meal, share my favourite recipes, or explore local food spots together. Additionally, I'm tidy, respectful, and considerate of my hosts' space and time, and want to leave a happy memory for both parties. :)
