About Me
Hi! I am from rural Washington State USA but have been living in Los Angeles for the past 4 years at Azusa Pacific University :)
I currently live in Peru as a Youth Development Volunteer for the US Peace Corps!
I'm passionate about meeting people who are different from me and learning from their life experiences.
Here's a blog about my time in Peru: alextbrouwer.wordpress.com
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking for fun and interesting people to meet while I travel Europe!
Sharing experiences with people who live in the places you visit is the best way to travel!
I want to share a bit of my life experiences in WA, California, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, and England while learning from the hosts I stay with!
Interests
I love sports and have played basketball since I was just a kid!
I play the drums and any form of percussion and love music of all kinds!
I'm a nerd at heart and study theology, literature, philosophy, or anything else honestly!
I am most passionate about helping people in need, especially those who are oppressed and disadvantaged. I hope to one day work in a church or non-profit organization.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading and here are some I've read over the past few months: The road, Let the Great World Spin, Frankenstein, Letters to a young poet, Miss Dalloway, Tattoos on the Heart, Son of laughter, Holy the Firm, the Chronicles of Narnia....
Movies: Swiss Army Man!, Lord of the Rings, the Departed, O Brother Where Art Thou...
TV: Breaking Bad, Fargo, Parks and Recreation, the Office, True Detective (season 1), Black Mirror...
Music: a lot but mostly alternative, folk, indie, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bungee jumped off the highest bridge jump in the world while in South Africa
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to share my passions for literature, community development, church/society, music, etc.
I'd love to learn about an insider's view of your community, culture, and city! I'd love to learn how to cook a dish from your country/area!
I can share about when I lived in a monastery for a week if that sounds interesting.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my rural experiences working on a farm and living in the countryside of America. I can also share my experiences of living in Los Angeles and in South Africa for 3 months.
I'll try to be a fun person to meet and hang out with for a few days and hopefully a new friend :)
