Hi! My name is Alex. I’m a college student at Duke University in North Carolina! I’m double majoring in Biology and Neuroscience with a minor in Economics, and a part of the Air Force ROTC program.

Between semesters, I’m an avid traveler and absolutely love going to see new places, meet amazing people, and try new things. I really enjoy learning about different cultures and religions, coming from a mixed family myself. My mom’s side of the family is Vietnamese and my dad’s is American, so I love being able to have a foot in both cultures.

In my free time, I love sports, music, and the outdoors. I’ve been a competitive figure skater since I was 6 years old and am a 4-Time US Figure Skating Gold Medalist, I have my 1st Dan Shodan certification under USA Karate, and I’m a very average rock climber. I also play violin and sing in small ensembles and choir, and I dabble in guitar (think casual campfire guitarist vibes).

I have friends and family that have Couchsurfed before, so I wanted to try it out on the trip I’m currently on because meeting cool people is lovely.

Skiing my first black diamond at White Pass in Washington. I had ice EVERYWHERE and wrapped around like 3 trees, but I made it and I’ve never forgotten the feeling!

Or, I turned down Yale and Princeton and an appointment to every US military service academy (West Point, US Air Force Academy, US Naval Academy, US Coast Guard Academy). But this one isn’t as cool as my tumbling down a snowy mountain, in my opinion.
