ABOUT ME

Now that I'm working 9 to 5 I'm able to dream more often - I'm looking forward to living the dream again relatively soon! The world awaits....

PHILOSOPHY

My trip to Cambodia was one of those life-altering experiences that you read about but never fully comprehend until your own path stumbles upon it. I was exposed to more poverty in Cambodia than anywhere else I have traveled. This poverty was sharply contrasted with the spirit of the people there. These people have been through more than anything I could imagine. It's unfathomable the suffering that they have endured. And they're still here. They are real. And they have made me realize - even the young girl on the street, who, for some curious reason, got me to buy her baby formula, and then, the very next evening, attempted to do the same thing - that it is my duty to do something to help them. That the shallow goodness I felt for having seemingly kept a young girl and her sibling from trouble, the kind of self-satisfaction that was in that action, in me, is not enough. My life should be spent, because of the wondrous opportunities resulting from simple circumstance of the place of my birth, equalizing the seemingly insurmountable gap between myself and that little, confused girl. Because we're not so different. I struggled with what had happened, that this girl wasn't the angel that I thought she was, sent to make me feel good about myself for a day. The truth is that no one is that angel. We, at some time, are all alone and afraid and confused and fighting to survive. I want to become less afraid, more assured of my place in this world.
