About Me

I can wrinkle the side of my nose using a muscle no one else appears to own. I live in hope that someday, somehow, this secret ability will allow me to save the world.

I am currently spending a year abroad in Louisiana, away from my native France, to teach a 3rd grade French immersion class.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet talented brilliant incredible amazing show-stopping spectacular people. It's been working pretty well so far!

Interests

Politics, geopolitics, feminism - always up for a debate. I love to study and I get periodically passionate about various topics.

My work is a huge commitment of mine and probably what I think about the most. I am into "alternative" teaching methods and love to talk about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot, all sorts of novels, comics, poems, essays... Currently reading Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.

I love cinema as well. My favorite movie is Thelma and Louise, but there's a ton more films I could mention. I am really into animation. Many of my favorite shows are cartoons, like Fullmetal Alchemist (ok technically that's anime), The Last Airbender, and Steven Universe.

So I am a book nerd, an animation nerd - but not a music nerd. The FBI agent who monitors my computer is probably tired of listening to the Steven Universe theme song on loop, but I sure am not!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far I've survived the American school system. Oh, and on the first day of school here in the US, a New York Times reporter came to my classroom and wrote an article on my work as a French immersion teacher: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/21/us/louisiana-french-dual-language.html?auth=login-email&login=email

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you swear words in French. Or how to cook a mean ratatouille.
As for learning, I am both vastly curious and vastly ignorant, thus interested in everything you are willing to share. If I have to give one specific example: I love to dance, but I am really... not good at it. If you got some sick moves, please, please, teach me your ways!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Wait, wasn't that the point of the previous entry ?

Cuba, Czech Republic, England, Iceland, Italy, Spain, United States
