Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Alicja. Sometimes a scientist, sometimes a witch.
Here is a list of things I like:
1) I like nectarines, but not as much as juicy golden kiwis.
2) I like the sun, but the moon and stars I love. Actually, I love the sun too!
3) I like the feeling of air on my skin just after I take off my socks.
4) I like the colour of the sky one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset.
5) I like myself.
6) I like lying in the park on the grass.
I’m doing a PhD in Neuroscience on psychedelics and theirs therapeutic potential. I spend a lot of time thinking about the brain, the mind, and the strange ways humans experience reality. I love conversations that go beyond small talk, travelling with curiosity rather than checklists, and meeting people who can show me a place from the inside. I’m open-minded, observant, and always interested in good stories, unusual perspectives, and meaningful connections.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on Couchsurfing because for me, travelling is mostly about people. I love discovering new places, but what makes them truly memorable are the conversations, local moments, and the chance to see the world through someone else’s eyes. I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, exchanging stories, and experiencing places in a more real and human way. I’m here for curiosity, cultural exchange, and genuine connection.

Music, Movies, and Books
I’ve always loved books, films, and music that leave something behind - whether it’s an idea, a mood, or a strange feeling you keep thinking about afterwards. Some of my favourite books are Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera, and The Mighty Angel by Jerzy Pilch. In film, I have a soft spot for everything from Shrek to The Dreamers and The Holy Mountain - I like stories that are unusual, atmospheric, funny, disturbing, or all at once.
When it comes to music, electronic music is definitely my world, but I like it in many very different forms. I’m into melodic techno, psytrance, hardstyle, psy dub, rominimal, and sounds that mix electronic music with folk, hypnotic rhythms, or more experimental textures. I love music that can be deep, raw, dreamy, ecstatic, or almost ritualistic depending on the mood. I also have a soft spot for classical music and great film soundtracks.
I’m always happy to exchange recommendations - especially if you want to show me the kind of music that people don’t usually find on the first page of Spotify.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I began to live in harmony with myself :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I like conversations that make you think, but also ones that feel real and human. I can share a lot about the mind, cognition, perception, emotions, and my research world, but I also love learning from other people’s experiences, passions, and ways of looking at life. For me, sharing is not only about knowledge - it’s also about perspective, openness, and connection.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share good conversation, curiosity, and lots of stories from my solo travels. I genuinely enjoy spending time together if it feels natural - whether that means talking for hours, going for a walk, cooking something, exploring a neighbourhood, discovering a local place, or just sharing part of the day in a simple way. I love exchanging experiences, recommendations, and perspectives, and I’m always interested in hearing other people’s stories too. For me, Couchsurfing is not only about a place to stay, but also about human connection and the moments shared along the way.
