About Me
*Note: It seems as though my profile still links my location to Moscow, Russia. I have since moved back to DC! But don't you worry, I'll be back in Moscow soon enough :)
My curiosity has made the world into a big question for me (also several small ones), and so I believe I move around to find some answers.
I'm originally from Hawaii, but spent some time in Seattle before moving to DC to continue my studies. I then spent nearly 2 years in Moscow. Although I moved back to DC recently to finish my studies, I don't think it'll be a long-term move. But for now, I'm trying to understand the meaning of a home, and enjoy where I am for the time being.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have a tendency to travel by myself, and have met many wonderful people along the way. Several of them were from couchsurfing and I really appreciated their generosity of opening their homes to me or just hanging out.
CS is a special community where new connections are made, all the while respecting of each others' differences. As much I have received, I would love to give back and hopefully be of some sort of help or friend, whether that'd be a couch, a new buddy, or a tour of the city.
Interests
Traveling in any shape, way or form! The most enjoyable ways have been by hitchhiking or biking. Also long train rides. Regarding environments, I try to look for everything and everywhere, from mountainous rural villages to urban cities to random autonomous states. Always up for hiking, biking, long walks, and a good nightlife, especially dancing! Politics, history and trivial stuff are fun to talk about, too.
Also haven't been to any countries in Latin America or Africa, so they've become my top destinations, including ones in Central Asia and the Middle East.

Music, Movies, and Books
Really depends on how I feel; I love almost all genres of music, just listening to whichever one that matches best with my current mood. From Electronic to Classical, the spectrum is pretty wide.
As for books, I usually love some good memoirs, historical fiction, thrillers, and some others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Really hard to narrow it down to one, so I'd say some amazing things I've done are:
--Riding a hot air ballon in Cappadocia as the sun was rising. The colors of the sky was unreal.
--Skydiving 14,000 ft in Hawaii, and with my mom!
--Extending my time living in Russia.
--Volunteering on a farm in Brittany, France.. with alpacas. Pretty random, but it was a lovely time seeing a different part of France with a local couple. Learned some traditional breton dancing at their neighborhood festivals, too.
--Hitchhiking from Hamburg to Copenhagen with a fellow CSer that I met the day before at my host's house.
--Did the Trans-Siberian/Trans-Mongolian trainride from Mongolia to Moldova. Along the way, I visited my friend in Ulaanbaatar, saw Lake Baikal for the first time, celebrated my birthday inside the train with a family from Holland, a guy from Thailand, and a bunch of old Russians, attended my friend's wedding in Moscow, met up with an old friend in Ukraine, and visited Transnistria. What a trip
--Hitchhiked in Macedonia with random travelers from Australia and Spain. Both the local drivers and travelers were incredibly great company to be with.
--Ran marathons in Hawaii and Moscow, and I hope to run some of the other major marathons in the future
Teach, Learn, Share
Always happy to share with whatever I can. Whether it's some company, laughs, or insight :)
& if you ever decide to visit where I am currently staying, I'd love to show you the area. My current living situation doesn't allow for surfers at the moment, but I'm looking forward to hosting when the opportunity arises. Until then, I can always provide recommendations, advice, or a tour when there's some free time.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I don't travel with much luggage, but I always have some stories to share! I also enjoying cooking with anyone, and maybe I can infuse a cuisine from my life, whether that's korean, american, hawaiian, russian, or vegan! There's also a possibility that I might have dark chocolate and sweet potatoes with me on hand, and will be more than happy to share those (the purple or yellow ones, never the orange).
