About Me

I'm a wandering freelance dive instructor, nature lover, and thrill seeker. I grew up in Southern California but have spent most of the last decade all around Asia.

Things I love:
adventure and sharing stories about it
cooking and eating vegan
the ocean. surfing, diving, kayaking, sailing, everything to do with it
exploring unknown places
meeting locals
sci-fi and adventure books
music you can dance to
yoga
island life

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hate going by the book and ending up with all the other tourists. And I hate when people have bad things to say about the place I'm from because they didn't know how to have a good experience. Couchsurfing is the best way to travel for an authentic and unique experience. One traveler to another who wants only to share stories, knowledge, and laughs.

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up on Studio Ghibli anime and pirate fantasy, punk rock music, and science fiction. Now I love movies like Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi, any music you can dance to, and books about art, philosophy, traveling, spirituality.. Too many to list!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived inside a Burmese refugee camp for 6 months as a volunteer teacher.

Teach, Learn, Share

My grandfather happened to be quite the explorer/adventurer who inspired many through his crazy expeditions he later wrote books about and gave touring lectures on. I asked him one day what his absolute favorite experience/memory/place in the world is and he answered, "It's not about the places you go or things you do that make the experience. It's the people you meet and the moments you share that you remember."

I'm finding that to be sooooo true! I'm grateful to have met many amazing people and learn from each other.
