About Me

I'm a Canadian with a passion for learning and exploring the world! Working as a communications professional but studied history in University, and I'm an especially big nerd when it comes to European history.

In my free time I like to shop at local markets, read books, get rowdy at pub quizzes, and be outside whenever it's sunny and warm! At home I volunteer with a local non-profit team that supports sustainability and green living, and I like to volunteer at festivals and other community events when I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel solo and make new friends wherever I go.
The only way to really get to know a place is to meet locals and see a part of real life, not just the tourist side. My favourite thing to do is just wander around neighborhoods to really get a feel for the place (although often I just get lost).
The sense of community that can be found through couchsurfers all over the world is so incredible, it's a joy to be a part of CS!

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't like to narrow down my "favourite" things, mostly because I am an indecisive person.
I'm never without a book and headphones in hand. The older I get, the broader my interests are for what I listen to and what I read so go ahead, give me some recommendations!
Some idea of music I like at the moment - The Clash, Arctic Monkey's, Gogol Bordello, Grouplove, The Vaccines, etc.
If I'm not listening to music them I'm listening to podcasts, preferably funny ones.
And I looove movies so much - action filled, thought provoking, oscar worthy... I'll give any movie a chance :)
Favourites are probably Dead Poet's Society, Pulp Fiction, Snatch, Lockstock, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had too many amazing experiences to count, but my favorite is that I live pretty far north, so whenever the Northern Lights are particularly strong, my friends and I will drive an hour outside of the city to see them fully. Beautiful every time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love food, and trying out cool restaurants/cafes and all sorts of hidden gems around the world, but I also like to cook - especially for other people! Happy to cook you a meal and share a bottle of vino.
I love learning about history and taking people on my own little walking tours around to explain the unique history of a given area.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest I can be an unobtrusive or as connected as you would like! I can stay quiet and tidy and out of your way if you happen to be busy, I'm pretty used to travelling solo and exploring places on my own. Or, I can cook you some meals, tell you all about Canada and even help practice English if that is something you are working towards! I'll even try to speak the local language, which will probably be hilarious for you, but unsuccessful for me :\
