Overview
About Me
I'm a senior English major at Amherst College in Massachusetts, still unsure what to do with myself. One thing's for sure, though: I want to see more of the world and explore difference. Although my family traveled a ton when I was younger, most of my life has been very domestic; I spend a lot of time reading and staring out windows just thinking. I want to meet more people and go to new places so that I can find out things that thinking and reading can't help me find out (and maybe also just stare out windows in different places).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the idea of a network where people all over the world can share their homes with strangers and a person can decide to go to a strange new place and stay somewhere that truly belongs in that strange new place. When I traveled as a child I was completely enchanted by every new place I saw, however touristy and superficial a glimpse I got. Since then I've had a lot of time to reflect on what increasing accessibility and internet tourism has done to exploration and am eager to figure out what a different kind of travel would look like. So basically I'm on Couchsurfing to try to gain more authentic travel experiences!
