About Me

Hi, I'm Amanda!
I am an honest and respectful individual. I am non-violent and I choose to only love, humans and animals alike. I feel that since we are all here on the same planet, we might as well get along and help each other out. I enjoy spending time with others – really surrounding myself with loving people is important to me and beneficial to my health (and yours). I appreciate good conversations – exchanging stories of life experiences, sharing spiritual views (Love is the most important thing here. I don’t believe in religious barriers – we are all one), teaching each other things, etc. However, I’ve noticed that as an introvert, it is good to have a healthy balance of socializing and me time. Often I can be quiet and prefer to be alone.
After working in fast food for six years, I have become so disgusted with the standard “American Diet,” and everything else that is wrong with the food industry.
My husband and I recently moved to Eastern Tennessee to start a family homestead out on the land. We will learn to grow our own food, raise chickens, goats, bees and other various creatures who will help us thrive. We wish to focus on creating a strong community of people who are passionate about living off the land and educating others.
I have been an animal lover forever and a vegetarian for eight years. I was 15 when I first learned about CAFO’s and even at a young age, I knew there was something I wanted to do about it. I may only be one person, but I know by getting together with like-minded individuals and groups, we can all inspire each other, help one another out, grow together and improve the community (and world) we live in, little by little.
I quit work summer of 2014 to attend a few music festivals, travel, and spend time with others. During my adventures over the past year, I’ve experienced more than what I would have just working and staying in town. I’ve learned to expect surprises and obstacles, and to take advantage of opportunities. Not everything comes easy, but hard work is worth making things happen. I’ve realized that a good attitude and genuine effort are two very important aspects to living a good life. I’ve found that being in the wilderness and knowing more about and working with the nature that surrounds me brings me peace.
During my downtime I like to daydream, think, write, doodle, appreciate nature, play with animals, take photographs, learn and try new things, and whatever else may come my way.
I'm insanely in-love with my best friend, Aaron, and am so blessed and happy that I get to spend the rest of my life with someone so amazing.
We are located in the town of Greeneville on 83 acres of land. Our house is tiny, but we can offer a place to sleep for one or two people.
Greeneville is four hours from Nashville, about an hour and a half from the Smokey Mountain National Park and Asheville, NC.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd rather make friends than spend money on a hotel room.
I'm interested in hosting people to make new friends, hang out, exchange stories, be hospitable.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Road tripping out to California was pretty amazing. Three weeks, over 3,000 miles, six national parks, the pacific ocean and highway 1.

Broke out of my comfort zone.
Traveled through WWOOFusa solo for 2 months.
Moved 600 miles away from my childhood home, my parents and best friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love is a choice, it is also a practice. It is something we must train ourselves to do consistently. Show love and compassion in all situations, no matter how unfavorable. Forgive. It can be hard if someone harms you. If you are strong enough in love to forgive someone who has hurt you and left a negative mark in your life you will be happier. This does not mean what the person did was okay. It just simply means you have let it go and you do not let those dark thoughts control you. Do it for yourself. Have faith that you will become happier, but you must put in effort. Anything good in this life is worth the work. You must constantly work at reminding yourself to be happy and to love unconditionally.
I believe the meaning of life, that some people contemplate and so often complicate, is to be happy, help others and pray often. Pray in thankfulness for the love that resides in you, that keeps you afloat and pray for guidance that you will not forget about that love and you will not fall into the pull of negative energy that lurks in the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts
