Hello!! My name is Amandine, I am 25 years old and I am French.
Passionated about travelling, foreign cultures and languages I have always tried to incorporate those passions in my life. I started to travel "on my own " during my studies and as an au pair (looking after children in a family in a foreign country).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always found difficult to know what I exactly wanted to do with my life expect that I wanted to travel the world, speak foreign languages and live in different countries.
My idea of travelling is to live in a foreign country in order to get to know the culture, the language, the people and to immerse and adapt myself (i like to challenge myself as well).
My travelling experiences have always been in certain context and I have been questioned it for a certain time now.
I started considering other ways of travelling as I would like after my experience as an au pair to start my first solo traveller as a backpacker. This is how I heard about couch surfing, woofing and so on. I found it was such a great way of exploring a country in so many ways, maybe closer to what I was looking for.

Interests

I am passionate about foreign languages especially English and I would like to improve the ones I speak as well as learning new ones. Again I like diversity and I believe languages reflect, inter alia, the culture of a country.
I like nature, I try to respect it as much as I can and I like being outdoors! I also enjoy cooking and try different and authentic food.
I am an active person and I keep myself busy. I like sports especially snowboarding.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like Adele, films from Xavier Dolan and Iranian cinema! My favourite book is Stolen Lives: Twenty Years In A Desert Jail by Malika Oufkir.
I like independent cinema and films that question ourselves and also give us an insight of differences among countries.
However, I am always interested in discovering new artists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have not done many amazing things but I lived in different countries (during my bachelor's degree and my master's degree, as well as an au pair) and I learnt how to immerse/adapt myself in a place that I did not know, with people I did not know and sometimes with a language I did not speak.
It is such a rewarding and enriching experience and i would like to get the opportunity to live in every place on earth!

Teach, Learn, Share

I reckon we always learn something from the others, no matter the nationality, language, age, differences, etc... I like the fact that there is not only one way of doing or seeing things but several ways that vary according to everyone's culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe I am a sociable and open minded person and I am looking forward to meeting people from different backgrounds. I like sharing about my culture, my language, my passions and also learn about the others. I am more than happy to learn how to do new things and how to be useful.
As I also like cooking, I would love to cook for my hosts and why not doing it together :) ?
