About Me

Hi! I'm Amarie!
I just graduated from Duke University where I studied Political Science, Education, and Marketing and competed for the Blue Devils as a member of the Track and Field Team (Discus and Shot Put). Next fall I will be pursuing my Master's Degree at UC Berkeley, but in the mean time I am on a great adventure! I love all things outdoors (except snakes and mosquitos) and I am very adventurous.
I grew up on a farm in central California, riding horses, playing in the dirt, and definitely not wearing shoes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am driving my car from Duke (in North Carolina) back to California on what should be an epic road trip and I want a holistic experience of America. You don't get that staying in hotels.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love pretty much all music except screamo and clue grass, but there is a special place in my heart for 90's country, jazz, and R&B. All my friends who follow me on Spotify always tell me how confusing my taste in music is because one minute I'll be listening to the crooning of Ella Fitzgerald and the next Chance the Rapper or George Strait... no one understands... not even me, but hey, I like what I like!

In terms of movies, my favorite of all time is The Italian Job, but Argo and Legally Blonde are close seconds.

Don't even get my started on books... they might be my favorite thing of all time! I've recently read quite a variety including The Kite Runner (wtf, so sad, no one warned me), The Circle (worst ending ever), I Almost Forgot About You (I never knew how much I would relate to a 50 year old woman), All the Light We Cannot See (War sucks, but being blind in a war sucks even more), Trans Atlantic (There really isn't a point, but its still cool), and Redeeming Love (A God-fearing farmer falls in love with a Prostitute... What could go wrong??). Besides these one of my favorite books, that I haven't read in a while, but still love is Blue Like Jazz. Honorable mentions to Atlas Shrugged, The Bible, A Very Hungry Caterpillar, and The Hiding Place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everything I do is amazing... obviously

Teach, Learn, Share

I am not much of a talker but all my friends say I'm a great listener and I really love learning about pretty much anything. So please tell me your life story

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm fun. I can crush any board games. I know an unnecessary amount of information about ancient Greek sculpture, fitness, Russia, education, nuclear weapons, horses, and farming.

I also really love kids, so if you need a date night or have something else, I can be a free baby sitter!
I can pet your dog too!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Canada, Italy, Mexico
