About Me

We are a Spanish couple who loves traveling, meet new people and discover amazing places. We have been together for more than 9 years and we hope to live in our own soon and to welcome guests in our new house.

Amaya: I'm a 24 year old girl and I was born in a small town in La Rioja, Spain. I'm a Social Worker and I'm especially interested in the Mental Health branch. I'm vegetarian and animal rights activist. I've dedicated most of my life to the rescue of animals (dogs, cats, pigs, sheep ...) and I have been a volunteer for an animal shelter since the age of 16. I'm a shy person at the beginning, calm and home-lover, but when I go out to party I'm the last to go home. I like to go barefoot everywhere, I don't usually let them cook for me and Gonzalo says that sometimes I look like Sheldon Cooper.
I love board games, series, movies and, of course, traveling.

Gonzalo: I'm a 27 year old boy who, luckily or unfortunately, decided to learn engineering. I have studied in Spain and Denmark and although at the beginning it was hard, I ended up taking the pleasure of being an engineer and that's what I want to work in the very near future.
I think I am a calm, outgoing, and sociable person.
Although Amaya and I share many hobbies, sometimes it is hard for us to agree. More than one night we have taken longer to choose a movie than to watch it.
I am an enthusiast of video games, movies, series, music and literature, in that order. I love knowing the little curiosities of movies, series, songs, or books.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We have decided to use Couchsufring because we think it is a different way to visit new places while sharing the experience with interesting and kind people. We believe that it is a very useful tool to put travelers in contact.
For now we cannot offer accommodation, since we live with our parents, but we are looking forward to doing so.

Music, Movies, and Books

Amaya:
- Music: A little bit of everything (Green day, Kase O, Eminem, Rozalén, Shakira, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish...)
- Movies: Pan's Labyrinth, Life is beautiful, Star wars, Harry Potter...
- Series: Orange is the new black, Lost, The walking dead, Game of thrones, Malcolm in the middle, House, the handmaid's tale...

Gonzalo:
- Music: my favourite bands are Green Day and Metallica. But honestly, I like all music styles. I have a passion for the OSTs from the movies that I like.
- Movies: if I write my top 3 they'd be "A Clockwork Orange", "Inception" and "Spirited Away"
- Series: my top 3: "Breaking Bad", "The Leftovers" and "Attack on Titan"
- Books: my top 3: "The Name of the Wind", "The Wise Man's Fear" and "La Sonrisa Etrusca".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amaya: My group received a notice of a truck overturned on the road. He transported pigs to the slaughterhouse and there were dozens of them seriously injured. We went there and managed to rescue 15 (some of them stolen, others gave them to us because they did not serve to be eaten because they had wounds). They were pigs of only 7 months and we take care of them and cure them for 2 months. Then we took them to different animal sanctuaries where they were really happy.

Gonzalo: With only 2 weeks of time I was admitted to a Danish university to do a master's degree in Offshore energy systems. Thus began my greatest adventure. For two years I have lived with Amaya in a foreign country, discovering what it is to become independent in a society and culture different from yours, 2300km away from my family.

Teach, Learn, Share

We like to teach people our mother tongue, Spanish. We also love to cook for others and teach them vegetarian recipes and typical Spanish dishes such as Spanish tortilla.
We like to learn the local traditions, the history of the city and the art of the area.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you choose us we would love to spend time with you, meet you and tell you our story. As we said, we like to cook and it would be a pleasure to share it with you.
