I am an Au Pair in New Jersey and I'm 19 years old. I'm from Germany and after my High School Graduation I left for living in the United States. I'm currently living in an American host family in Bloomingdale, NJ and I am very happy here. I am going to the Ramapo college of New Jersey and I am an Au Pair (for those who don't know what that is: I am kind of like a nanny for the children of my host family. So i can live in their house and I'm getting a little bit pocket money weekly for supervising their children.) I'm taking care of two girls, 14 and 13 year old and of my baby boy Ethan, he just turned 5. I like the American life style a lot and I think I already adjusted pretty well, but I am always open to learn something new. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I signed up on this webite because I'm trying to travel as much as possible during my time in the United States, but as student I do not have that much money. In addition I think it is a great opportunity to meet new people and to learn more about the Americans and the different cities of the US.

Interests

I love travelling and to see new things, learning about new cultures and getting to know all sort of people. That is one of the reasons why I am in the United States and up until now, it has been a wonderful experience.
Back home I love hanging out with my friends, going to the movies and going out sometimes; just what a normal 19 year old girl is doing.
I studied a lot in High School so there were only the weekends and the hoildays left for these things to do, but my friends were around 24/7 :)
My hobbies are horse riding and swimming, especially here in the US I am running a lot and going to the gym 5 times a week. I'm a very active person.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of different type of music, like a little bit of rock, country but mostly pop music. I love Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Alicia Keys, but I am also listening to the All American Rejects, Fall Out Boy and Kid Rock.
One of my favorite movie is Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing and Friends with benefits with Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.
I am totally into One Tree Hill, and I also think Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars are great shows.
My favorite books are the three books of the Hunger Games trilogy, it is just a great story with lots of tension. I loved the simple way the author wrote the book, it makes me, as a German, it easy to understand the English version of the book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've ever done is probably being in New York City. I really love that place. So many amazing things happened there and it is just an awesome feeling to be part of the crowd. Lots of great memories were built there and it will always stay something special for me because it was the first big adventure after school for me, and it hepled me a lot to grow up and see the world through different eyes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach them the languages that I speak, share with them the world through my eyes, show them the pictures that I took and I'm more than curious about their lives and their experiences.
And I am of course happy to help with babysitting kids, as an Au Pair I should be able to help haha ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the experience that I have because I lived in Europe for 18 years, and of course teach them some German and French. I think it is really nice for Hosts to get to know people from overseas and how they see the world. I am a very communicative and funny person, so I'm more than happy to talk to them and do funny things, give them something back for letting me stay at their place. :)
