About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Simplify my life, meet new people, raise a great kid, be a good teacher that reaches the spirit of my students, stay open to exploration, keep trying new things, take care of myself and those I love.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I prefer spending time with real people to the impersonal world of hotels. I hope to connect with others and, little by little, create more community in my life.
Interests
Growing food and flowers, laughing, time in the wilderness, having friends around the dinner table, moving by my own steam (bicycling, hiking, canoeing...), reaching across whatever divides us as people, and so much more.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have very eclectic tastes in music, movies, and books! I love to read and am always looking for book recommendations.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've taught so many things in my life: knot-tying, windsurfing, precalculus, pottery, international folk dancing, and more (not to mention my biology-teaching career). I've taken students to Costa Rica many times to study tropical biology and conservation.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help you fix knitting problems, help weed your garden, or identify your wildflowers. I'm always ready to learn new songs and can probably teach you one you don't know.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook with others and am happy to share a meal if you're interested. I'll probably bring you something I've baked or some eggs or something from our campus farm.
Countries I’ve Visited
Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama
