About Me

ABOUT ME

I was born in St. Petersburg and lived there until I was 15, at which time I moved to the US. Thus, you are right to assume that I still really like cabbage and beets, but also enjoy good burgers and apple pie.

For the last 2+ years I have been living and working in Georgia as a volunteer English teacher at a village school. Right now I am attempting my own version of the Grand Tour of Europe to "readjust" back to Western life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Total newbie!

Interests

Public parks, unusual sculpture gardens, museums, public transportation, people watching in all of the above locations, and the study of why sirens sound different in every country. In general, though, it is art, music, movies, literature, philosophy, history, culture, and everything else, beyond and in between.

I am an avid hiker and enjoy being outdoors, be it camping or just walking around. I enjoy everything related to water, and have been known to swim in any puddle I can.

I can't believe I forgot food! I loooove food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: old Italian and French, art house, and documentaries, where Herzog has been a staple of late.

Music: I am quite picky, but enjoy everything from classical to rock.

Books: Again, I am very picky, but I am a total bookworm and it is probably safe to assume that I am reading at least 3 books at any given moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the past year--teaching my 5th graders how to read properly in English and camping in the Caucasus mountains.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk about books, art, and languages forever. I love learning languages, and if you ever wanted to learn how to curse like a Russian sailor I can teach you. Of course, if you wish to learn the Russian of Tolstoy that is totally possible too, it will just take a while

I love to cook and am always curious to make new things and to experiment. Aaaand, if you ever wanted to learn how to make Russian staples like borsch and cabbage pie, I am your girl.

Also, and quite deplorably, after years of haphazard effort, I still have not managed to do a proper hand stand.

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Georgia, Russian Federation, United Kingdom, United States
