ABOUT ME

I consider myself a relatively open and pleasant person. I'm a little bit shy when first getting introduced to people, but I'm quick to warm up to those whose company I enjoy! Dorky yet fun, I can have a good time going out and dancing or sitting at home watching Netflix.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know if I have a personal philosophy other than a 1-word response: learn. I have lived a relatively sheltered life, coming from a mostly-white middle-class suburb, and since I've come to college and have begun to enter adulthood, I feel like I am learning something new about the world, myself, and interacting with others every day...and I never want to let go of that feeling.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will be traveling through parts of Europe from Mid-July to the end of August and am hoping to meet some cool people along the way. Hopefully will be opening my house in Amherst to surfers come the fall.

I grew up on Harry Potter, those books will always be close to my heart. I really enjoyed Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. I'm one of those people that fell in love with a lot of the books they read in high school, so I also love Never Let Me Go, The Great Gatsby, 1984, Pride & Prejudice, Cat's Cradle, To Kill A Mockingbird, etc. I don't get a lot of time to read at school but if you have suggestions please send them my way. I also read some John Green books recently and they melted my heart.

Movies movies....let's see...Black Swan, My Week With Marilyn, Pan's Labyrinth, Saving Private Ryan, Pride & Prejudice, Titanic, The Aviator, Superstar, Crash, Top Gun, Weekend, Melancholia, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Almost Famous, Easy A, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, the Harry Potter Films, La Haine, The Hunger Games, Once, all the Disney animated classics....I could go on forever haha.

I really don't watch many shows. I've been trying to get into more of them. My favorite show of all time is probably 30 Rock. Also a big fan of Parks and Rec, Law & Order: SVU, How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds, SNL, Friends, Arrested Development, Portlandia, Avatar: The Last Airbender / Legend of Korra, etc. There are plenty of series I've started but haven't gotten around to finishing (Supernatural, Doctor Who, etc.) but, again, I love recommendations, so feel free.

In terms of music, I listen to just about anything people throw at me. My iPod consists largely of Alternative, Folk, Indie and it's various subgenres, Rock, Singer-Songwriter, and a lot of other things in between. If I had to some my favorites from over the years, I guess I'd say Amy Winehouse, Andrew Bird, Bad Books, Bayside, Beach House, Beirut, Best Coast, The Black Keys, Bon Iver, Brand New, City and Colour, Daughter, Dog Is Dead, Ellie Goulding, First Aid Kit, Florence + the Machine, Grizzly Bear, iamamiwhoami, Ingrid Michaelson, Jack's Mannequin, Kate Nash, Kevin Devine, The Killers, Kina Grannis, Local Natives, Manchester Orchestra, Marina & the Diamonds, Mumford & Sons, Neutral Milk Hotel, Okkervil River, Regina Spektor, Scattered Trees, Sigur Rós, Sleigh Bells, The Starting Line, Transit, Vampire Weekend, Walk The Moon, The XX, Young The Giant, etc....wow that list was a lot longer than I expected. I listen to a lot more than that, too, obviously. I also unfortunately have a bit of a guilty pleasure thing for Top 40 (Ke$ha, Beyoncé, Gaga, etc.). It's good going out music!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I went to the top of a giant volcano and swam in one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the lush rainforests of Maui all in one day. That may not seem really amazing but it made me remember how important and diverse this planet really is.

Haha well I'm working with (and learning) the fact that there are certain physiological manifestations that come with certain emotions and have become very good at spotting some of them, so if you're interested in that gimme a holler.
