Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I have a diverse taste in music that matches different aspects of my life. When I travel, I immerse myself in the soothing rhythms of folk music, which helps me connect with the local culture and landscapes. During study sessions, I find solace in the classical compositions of Bach and Beethoven, whose intricate melodies enhance my focus and concentration. For moments when I want to let loose and feel energized, I turn up the volume with my favorite rock music.
Literature:
Books have always been a source of inspiration and reflection for me. Among the many I've read, two stand out as particularly memorable: Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt and Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Angela's Ashes offers a poignant glimpse into the struggles and resilience of a family in Ireland, while Life of Pi presents a captivating tale of survival and spirituality that resonates deeply with my sense of adventure and introspection.
Film:
Movies are another passion of mine, and I have a few that I can watch repeatedly without ever getting bored. The Bucket List inspires me to live life to the fullest, while Caravan transports me to a world of exploration and discovery. The Departed keeps me on the edge of my seat with its thrilling plot, and Nebraska touches my heart with its heartfelt storytelling. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty motivates me to embrace new experiences, and The Hobbit indulges my love for epic adventures and fantasy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I first landed in Saint Petersburg, it was smack dab in the middle of December. Imagine the scene: snow falling gently, the air crisp and biting, and everyone around me bundled up like they were preparing for an Arctic expedition. Thick coats, scarves wrapped around their faces, fur-lined boots – you name it, they wore it.
Then there was me. Fresh off the plane from Sumbawa, in my hoodie and sneakers. Yes, you read that right – a hoodie and sneakers. As I walked out of the airport, I could see my friends shivering, their breath visible in the cold air, their noses red from the chill. They looked at me like I had lost my mind.
"Are you crazy?" one of them exclaimed. "You're going to freeze to death!"
But here's the funny part – I didn't feel cold at all. I shrugged and said, "I guess I brought some of the Sumbawa warmth with me." They laughed, but I could tell they were genuinely puzzled. Every time the wind picked up, they'd huddle together for warmth, while I stood there, completely unbothered.
We walked through the snowy streets, my friends looking like they were part of a polar expedition, and me, the odd one out, just enjoying the winter wonderland. It was as if my body had decided to give the Russian winter a run for its money.
To this day, whenever winter comes around, my friends never miss a chance to remind me of that time I walked through Saint Petersburg in a hoodie and sneakers, defying the cold like it was no big deal. It's become one of our favorite stories to tell – a funny reminder that sometimes, being unprepared can lead to the best memories.
