About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Zen and the art of living.
I want to become a better man every day.
I want to learn. I want to teach. I want to love.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live!...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I like most to spend time with my guests. I am fascinated by the depth that you can find in every human being. Everyone of us has a gold mine inside and I am happy when I can find it. And I absolutely like it if my guest can cook something of their country!

Interests

I adore music. I am the former drummer of a rock band, called "Recidivi / Surreal Beat Garage Band". We recorded an EP in early February 2019, it has been my first professional recording experience so far! Check out our first videoclip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAWWeQFFLRI (and leave a comment! :))

To play chess... chess is my life. It is like a fever and I've been playing in tournaments since I knew I was born!
I have been practicing meditation every day since 2011, and I can say that it has changed my life for the better.
In 2017 I began to travel extensively across Europe... next destinations: Romania and more! Love to try food from other countries!

In 2018-2020 I took up volunteering in a telephone line to comfort people psychologically and prevent suicide. It was a great experience of love and responsibility.

Music, Movies, and Books

First and foremost. The Beatles, and the B-52's.
Italian cantautori (authors-singers) of the '70s, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, but also Debussy, Wagner, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Gershwin, Soviet fusion jazz ...

Books: "Il nome della rosa" (The name of the rose) by Umberto Eco; "Voyage au bout de la nuit" (Journey to the end of the night) by Céline.

Favourite movies:
"Mulholland Drive" by David Lynch, a travel into the mind's nightmares;
"Solaris" and "Stalker" by Andrej Tarkovskij (cannot describe in few words...);
"A clockwork orange" (deep masterpiece, both visually and in its meaning);
"The Shawshank redemption" (the only movie that has made me cry as far as I can remember);
"The 400 blows" by Truffaut (emotionally compelling, another amazing ending);
"Goodfellas" (tense, memorable dialogues, perfect soundtrack, perfect acting);
"Seven Samurai" (an amazing story of valor and friendship).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) I saw the Cairo pyramids a few kilometers away, from the city outskirts at dawn. It has been the most astonishing vision in my life.

2) Celebrating Ivana Kupala (St John's day) with soldiers and common people in Shepetivka (Ukraine), mainly by drinking barrels of vodka and eating awesome shashlyky. I was the main attraction in town ("There's an Italian guy, people! Come here and see!") those days :)

3) I was born and raised in Napoli, the most chaotic, lively and amazing city in the world!

4) Hosted about 170-200 people with CS, and received gifts from many of them. Isn't it amazing?

5) Let me brag a little :) I was the chess youth champion (under 16) of Southern Italy in 1991 and 1992.

6) For volunteering, I have spoken on a telephone help line with a lot of desperate people, most of whom had mental health issues. The experience has been so hard and rewarding at the same time.
