About Me
I recently met the most amazing person who was couchsurfing at a friend's house, so decided to sign up. For the past couple of years, I've been very politically active, participating in BLM, Indivisible, 350.org, founded "Lansing Environmental Action Team," and also active in Voters Not Politicians, but it feels like time to take a break from that, though I will stay active, just not in a leadership role. I facilitate a weekly meditation group at a local Buddhist temple, and have been practicing meditation and mindfulness for 20+ years. I love animals, and have 2 dogs who are rescue failures. When Mama, the Queen of Naughtiness, passes, then I will put my house back together, but I'm afraid, not 'til then. Why get a new couch when she'll just destroy it? She does have many redeemable qualities, and at 13, she's slowing down A BIT. I love to be active: bike riding, dog walking, gardening.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My friend turned me on to it, and I met a most amazing person through her that she was hosting. Also, when I travel, I think staying with locals would be less lonely than staying in a hotel.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is the thing I'm most professionally proud of: As a clinical social worker, a large number of my clients carry diagnosis of chronic and persistent mental illness. I'm supposed to meet with them regularly, but sitting for psycho-therapy wasn't really being very helpful to these clients. So I created something they named called "The Adventure Posse." I'd use the van and it would always fill to capacity (15) and take a group out in the world, baseball games, movies, hikes, coffee klatches, etc. It was one of the funnest, most rewarding things I've ever done!!
