Overview
About Me
I'm originally from Munich, Germany and am travelling around Europe at the moment. I'm shy at first, but warm up to people quite quickly and I think I'm fun to be around.
I guess, I'm kinda doing a gap year or two. I finished school last year and after working for a while, decided to leave Germany in June. I'm not quite sure yet, how long I'll be travelling or where I'll go, but time will tell. Till now it has worked out quite well, to be spontaneous. I also spent some time living in Chicago.
Sadly, I can't host at the moment, as I don't have a room or apartment currently. But, I plan to start hosting, when I am finished traveling.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing seems like the best way, to fully immerse into a new culture. To visit a place, without only seeing the mandatory "tourist stops".
Interests
Obviously, I like traveling and exploringnew places, even though I'm still at the beginning of my adventure.
I love hiking, bouldering and climbing (but I'm still a newbie). I haven't done it often enough, but also really enjoy kayaking/canoeing. Overall I just really enjoy anything in the outdoors. No matter if it is a sporty activity or just a chill afternoon outside. I also love camping and waking up to that beautiful sunrise.
I read a lot of books (mostly fiction) and like making music with other people. I play the violin and a little bit of the guitar. I'd say I am a creative person. Whenever, I'm home, I always seem to have 5 different projects, where I try to build or sew stuff on my own. Sometimes my creations turn out well and as I intended and the other times, it was a chance to work on my skills.
In addition it is always fun to go to concerts. I listen to a wide range of music.
I'm also always open and curious to tryout new things.
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music genres are:
- Rock/Hard Rock/Heavy Metal/Metal
- Indie/Indie-Rock
- Techno/Goa/Psytrance
- 90s and early 2000s HipHop
- Punk
- psychedelic Rock
- some reggae
- Classical music
- Blues
- some Rock n' Roll
- some Jazz
- etc.
There are many books I love, but here are some of my favorites:
- Draußen vor der Tür (Wolfgang Borchert)
- The dark tower series (Stephen King)
- Never cry wolf (Farley Mowat)
- American gods (Neil Gaiman)
- Three women (Lisa Taddeo)
- The Secret life of bees (Sue Monkchild)
- The Bell jar (Sylvia Plath)
- Tell the wolves I'm home (Carol Rifka Brunt)
- Girl, Interrupted ( Susanna Kaysen)
- Anything by Margaret Atwood
- Unterum Frei (Margarete Stokowski)
- Steppenwolf (Hesse)
- etc.
I'm not quite sure, which movies I'd could call favorites. I would say that my taste could be somewhat trashy at times.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Living in Chicago for a bit over a year, when I was 15
- Skydiving
- I loved seeing the entire country of Lebanon and wish I could've spent more time there
- Every Concert I've been too
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to speak German or English. I can aslo teach you about my culture, but I'm not sure how interesting it is. It would be cool, if I can learn a few words in your language as well.
I can teach you to make some origami figures.
I can also cook a few meals for you, however my cooking skills could still improve. In addition, I'm always happy to help out in the household I'm staying at.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think, I kinda already answered this in teaching/learning/sharing. If you have anymore questions though, just let me know :).
