About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Working on a literary project.
After a couple of strange pandemic years blocked from international travel am SO happy to be back on the road again.
In the next months I plan to return to India and source gemstones and traditional textiles for my clothing and jewellery import business. Hope to improve my Bengali.
Pre pandemic travels which deeply impressed me were to Iran, Ethiopia and Bangladesh.
While stuck in New Zealand with closed borders l went to live in a remote Maori tribal region in the far north where I taught literacy.
Since travel has somewhat normalised, this year I have been mostly in the Mediterranean and involved with projects in North and West Africa.
I am committed to refugee-migrant rights and education.
In the future, I hope to continue exploring the ancient Silk Road through Central Asia.
I dream of traveling to Georgia, Uzbekistan - the fabled cities of Samarkand and Bukhara.... Sri Lanka, Botswana, Mali and Zimbabwe.
I am inspired by Art, Poetry, Music, Nature, Festivals...
ABOUT ME
Gypsy nomad spinning through time and space, always learning and sharing tales of adventure along the way. I grew up in Highland Papua New Guinea which gave me a taste for discovering diverse cultures and traditions.
Am interested in art and performance, permaculture and developmental initiatives, humanity, architecture and nature.

PHILOSOPHY
The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage.
Humanist, Vaisnava and free spirit.
Mindfulness, Tolerance and Compassion central guiding principles.
Finding lessons in everything.
Riding the waves of possibility in the outer realms of reality...slipping from dream to dream, swimming up stream, searching High and Low for Beauty and Truth, Redemption and Transcendence, a glimpse of something sacred in this Funny Old World Which We're All passing through.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing and hosting when I'm able to.
I always like to meet up with local people from Couchsurfing when travelling to new places, whether I stay with them or not, especially those involved in the creative community.
The people you meet add color and texture to the tapestry of a journey
Local knowledge is gold and adds a deeper insight into a place.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I love to meet people and learn from our interactions and their perspectives..
I think CouchSurfing is a Brilliant Concept which I hope will continue to evolve positively as more people around the world are using it.
I got into couchsurfing after being rained out of a camping holiday one Autumn in Sicily and since then have had so many extremely positive experiences.
I've met some amazing people and been very fortunate to be invited into their homes and lives on my travels.
Things always get more interesting once you're in a new place and you start connecting with the locals so they can show you their magic spots, hideaways about town you would never have stumbled across on your own.
Local knowledge can be a great thing and some of the best discoveries come from following recommendations of like-minded individuals.
Equally having guests visit you in your place can make you appreciate details about your familiar environment which one might otherwise take for granted and gives a fresh perspective on where you live.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Kumbha Mela in India, Allahabad 2001. Watching the processions of Ash Smeared Naga-Babas, mendicant Sadhus, Saints and Pilgrims, tens of thousands of people winding their way down to the sangam, where the three holiest rivers in India meet, to bathe at sunrise on the most astrologically auspicious day. The dawn light turned the water silver and then a magic turquoise color as I finally came to this sacred spot to join in the ritual purification...Attendance was estimated at between 30-70 million people and the waves of humanity in all directions were just awe inspiring at this festival, the largest and most peaceful gathering in recorded history on earth.
I'm a qualified Dive Master and Scuba Diving with Manta Rays and bumping into the occasional Whale Shark on the way up was pretty mind blowing when I was staying in Mozambique.
I have hitchhiked in every country I've visited and have always been very grateful for the amazing people I've met who have helped me and shared their journeys along the road.
