About Me

Update: I have now moved to Boston with my family - husband and little daughter who is 3.
I'm working as a teacher at a private boarding school in Oxford. Before that I lived and worked in Germany (Heidelberg, Bonn and Hamburg). I love reading, doing sports, meeting people and travelling. I've been married for six years now, but as I have way more free time, I am travelling on my own quite a bit. I am a very friendly and outgoing person and am happy to hear stories from all over the world and meet as many different people as possible :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel on my own during the school holidays and meet people all over the world. I've found that couchsurfing is a very good way of getting in touch with local people and I've had some really nice experiences. I have hosted more than I have surfed, as I also enjoy having people stay with me, and I've had many great experiences where I felt like a friend was staying with me! I am taking a bit of a break from hosting, as we have just had our baby girl Lily in June 2019 and we are enjoying our time with her, and will do some travelling with her instead of staying in Oxford.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have to admit that I am a fan of romances and love, reading stuff like Jill Mansell. But not only that - I also read classical literature or the occasional thriller. I think my current favourite is "the Host" by Stephanie Meyer. Whenever I am somewhere and have to sit and wait, I get out a book and read!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've moved so often that I am now really proficient in adapting to new circumstances and taking life as it comes :-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very happy to help around the house in whichever way I can. I have often surfed together with a friend or with my husband and always appreciate everything hosts have done for me. In my opinion, showing this appreciation by being helpful and considerate is a key thing when you stay with other people.
