About Me

Hey fellow couchsurfers, my name is Annie and I'm a half British, half German girl studying politics in Salzburg. My boyfriend, Michi, as seen on the pics, is a German guy who runs a cultural youth centre in his hometown. I'm originally from Düsseldorf, but moved to Salzburg, Austria, last year to study. That's where Michi and I met. We recently bought a VW t5 with which we're planning on doing a roadtrip with this July through France. We plan to start in Strasbourg, then Paris, and we plan to land in the Bretagne but we are also open to any suggestions of where to stop on our way up to the Bretagne. We both are very open-minded people who love to eat and drink a good wine and we are looking forward to more of this on our travels. If you come to Salzburg we would also like to host you! The Salzburger Festspiele are starting too, and we are about 20mins away with the car. We're also rather new to Couchsurfing, so sorry if the info we write here is maybe not what you're used to :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're on Couchsurfing because: 1) I know a lot of people who have had great experiences on Couchsurfing, 2) it's a great way to get to know people and culture, 3) it's a cheap and different travel experience to what we are used to. We spent a lot of time looking at places to stay i.e. camping sites or hostels, but we decied we're going to opt for something different this time.

Interests

We are interested in learning new cultures and having a new travel experience than what we are used to! We like to cook a lot, and always try new things. We literally eat everything that is put in front of us. We like dinner partys or going to pubs and dancing. Concerts are a great joy too, but that's obviously considering corona difficult this year :( But we even make our own music sometimes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is definitely one of our main hobbies. We both collect vinyls which mainly include oldies like The Doors, Black Sabbath, Simon & Garfunkel, Tracy Chapman etc.. But we're really into genres like Rock, Indie, Reggae, Jazz and Soul.
We spend most rainy evenings watching Game of Thrones over and over again, or Lord of the Rings which are our faves. We also like Peaky Blinders or Vikings, anything that is a bit gruesome really.
I (Annie) am more of the book reader between us two, and I like reading a lot of political journals. I enjoy historical books but also obviously Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings which I've probably read 3x already. Other than that I enjoy books like Illuminati or old literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Michi would say he's done quite a lot of amazing things. He's got his dream job now so he's very happy. He would count organising concerts and music festivals every year to the amazing things he's done.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach you all about German culture if you're interested, and we can definitely cook you some classic German food. Obviously we can share some German with you as well. Both of us are very interested in France because we really like the language and the food culture. We're very much willing to learn some French and eat some classic home cooked meals. In general we're looking for a different travel experience when we're in France. We know a lot of the good sites already because we've both been to France before so we'd enjoy some tips on where to go when we are on our roadtrip.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share German food and language with you and in general all of our experiences. We'd consider ourselves interesting people with different backgrounds in life. We like to talk about politics or international topics and we're really interested in also finding out what other people have to say. We can share our diverse music taste with you and our love for beer, wine and food. Through that we always have great evenings with people we meet and we are great dinner party guests/hosts.
