About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There are numerous reasons why I am on Couchsurfing.

1. Learn new things
- My flat mate hosted two girls from Poland who are travelling around Scotland. The girls greeted us with lovely smiles and a bottle of vodka which they brought from Poland, called Soplica. From then on, we discussed various topics and gained a lot of knowledge about their cultures and their lifestyle. This experience, had influenced me to create an account on Couchsurfing because I am interest in meeting people and I think the concepts of Couchsurfing is cool and I like to the a part of it.

2. Experience a new culture
- Most travel guides pride themselves on authenticity: "if you want to do as the locals do, then you have to go and eat at this place, and do the shopping at this store." Yet, nothing is really more authentic than an actual local taking you around the place and showing their favourite places. Moreover, telling you things about the city that only someone from that city would know. I have many friends who are travelling and "exploring" but are they really "exploring"? Couchsurfing allows you to dive in headfirst into another culture. Although you may not walk away knowing all the details about the place, its history and society, but you'll come away with a sense of what it’s like to walk around in the shoes of a local, even if just for a few days.
