About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying life in the beautiful Swan Valley

ABOUT ME

We met when Joost was riding his bicycle on a 6 month long trip and got lost on a logging road in the Swan Valley, Montana. Now, a decade or so later, we live in a log cabin in the same valley, pretty much surrounded by trees. Life is good.

PHILOSOPHY

Try to keep life simple and light.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are caretakers and although we live in a house that doesn't belong to us, we may be able to host to people needing a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've couch surfed a few times and it's been great! Awesome when 'strangers' invite you into their day-to-day lives and you come to find out that we're really not all that different.

Interests

Backpacking, mountain biking, playing guitar, yurts, nature, knitting, gardening, travel, good conversation, cooking, XC skiing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Intouchables, Samsara, nature documentaries, foreign movies / comedy

Music: reggae, African and world music, funk, soul, folk, bluegrass

Books: Shantaram, The man who planted trees, Planetwalker

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Biking Fry Canyon, Utah in August with an insufficient amount of water and nearly passing out beneath a juniper tree. Luckily, got carried out of there by kind people who happened to be medical professionals.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can share our music, cooking, gardening and bicycle maintenance skills. Knitting lessons also a possibility... Although we live only a mile or so from the highway, it feels pretty isolated up here.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We both have quite a good knowledge of the lay of the land here in the Swan Valley and surrounding mountains (Swan Range and Mission Mountains) which may be of merit to those interested in recreation in this beautiful place. There's a few extra bedrooms here, which might be available.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Costa Rica, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand
