About Me

I had a great experience living in Boston for four years. Even though work was very hard, I made so many good friends, and visited many place. Especially, I was so lucky to find IFH Boston and get to live with many international people from all backgrounds there.

Upon finishing my studies, I had to decide whether to stay in the US or to go somewhere else. Considering lack of work-life balance in the US, I made my mind to migrate to another country to be able to both work and live fully. So, I lived in Iran for three years to visit my family and now I have been living in the Netherlands for a bit more than two years.

I love reading (both fiction and non-fiction; two recent reads: Forty Rules of Love, The Secret Garden, Powerarchy), spending time in nature, and having quality time with friends. Occasionally, I paint or draw, or make miniature sculptures with play-dough. I love going to museums, art galleries, libraries. I also enjoy walking around cities (to know them better and make friends with them), mountaineering, hiking, and camping. I love helping people (I did volunteer work at Boston Cares (couching high school students) and Ethos (elderly care)) and I am also learning that it takes a lot of strength to ask for help.

Music, Movies, and Books

Soundtracks are my favorite as they make me relive the emotional moments in movies. I also love listening to folklore music of anywhere in the world, be it Iranian (Do-taar, Ney, Kamancheh), native-American (especially their flute) or Hungarian (oh, their violin). I also enjoy classical music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple years ago, there was a blizzard in Boston, and I and my flatmates at IFH (ifhboston.org) went running for 5 mins in our shorts, at minus 20 degrees Celsius :))

Teach, Learn, Share

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
"He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond."

Poem by Rumi, Interpretation and Translation by Coleman Barks.
