As of April 2015 my boyfriend, Alex, and I have quit our jobs to travel the world. We are using our blog, In Pursuit of Adventure, to show people that kindness and decency still exists in this world and that the majority of people are good. We want to share the different cultures of the world through our blog and demonstrate that while we are all different we all want essentially the same things in life.

Ashley: Originally from California, I am passionate about traveling the world and getting to know the different cultures of the world. I am obsessed with history, art and archaeology. I even majored in Classical Archaeology at university. I travel from art, history, food and culture!

Alex: I'm from Pismo Beach, California. I grew up surfing and hanging out on the beach. I grew a love for travel as I a got older and moved to Rome, Italy when I was 18 for UNI! Main interest are surfing, travel, writing, literature, eating, local spirits, and being in places that I've never been. I want to get to know the locals and show people that this world is a great place with good people. Couch surfing is one way to break down the borders between us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Alex and I are on couchsurfing to meet people from all over the world and show that the world is still good. The kindness of strangers can go along way and that is what couchsurfing is all about!

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Ashley: Favorite music is jazz. I am an old soul and love Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

I love all kinds of movies but Indiana Jones will always remain my favorite followed by Back to the Future and Star Wars.

I read constantly and tend to focus on historical fiction books especially if they are murder mysteries.

Alex: Let us start with movies. The first two God Fathers, Indian Jones series as well as Back to the Future, LoTR, Star Wars, the Bug Lebowski, Get Shorty, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Dazed and Confused, any superhero movie (bad or good), Wet Hot American Summer and so much more.
TV shows: The Wire, Firefly, Veronica Mars, Eureka, Seinfeld, Archer and Bob's Burgers.
Music: Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffet, Dirty Heads, Slightly Stupid, Rebirth Brass Band, Riot Jazz, pretty much any brass band music.
Books: The Hobbit, Louis L'amore, Shakespeare, The Enders Game, Shadow of the Wind, Dune, The Alchemist, and The Name of the Wind series

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Alex and I have both snorkeled Silfra, the fissure in Iceland where the North American and European plates are spreading from, and it was absolutely an amazing experience.
