About Me

Hi, this is Joanna, Peter and Kazik( our 1 year old).
We live in the south of Poland. I teach linguistics at the university and Peter is a marketing specialist.

What You should know about us?
We are vegetarians, but we eat fish and seafood.
We love cooking, especially Peter who loves experimenting in the kitchen and spoils me with delicious dishes every now and then. Exploring local cuisine is an important part of our travels.
I can't do without coffee in the morning :)
We volunteer at a cat shelter and are owners of one balck cat - temperamental Matylda.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We first tried counchsurfing when we were students with a small budget for travelling, but heads full of dreams. Now we can afford a decent hotel, but in the meantime we discovered that what we love most about travelling are the people we meet during our journeys, their life stories, their energy, their knowledge and inner wisdom. All such enconters broaden our view of the world more than any historical building or museum.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

HK, summer 2011, very positive!
Spain, summer 2012, fantástica gran súper :)

Interests

In our apartment you can see lots of books, many in English, many about marketing, psychology, Eastern philosophy, and children (these I am reading right now).
We practice meditation and yoga every day (ok, at least we try)
We enjoy riding a bicycle and hiking in the montains.
And we like art and galleries.

Music, Movies, and Books

I do not really have time for films and books now, so I'll just mention the classics:
films: all by Woody Allen, Agnieszka Holland, Love Actually, Amelia, Matrix, V for Vendetta, Kinsey, 12 Angry Men, Spotify, The Big Short
books: by Miłoszewski (a Polish writer), Szymborska and Miłosz (Polish poets), Eat Pray Love, Stieg Larson, Dan Brown, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, Erich Fromm, Huxley,
Our favourite TV series: House of Cards, Friends (still makes us laugh)
and the hit right now: Super Simple Songs that I play to our kid and have a few minutes for myself :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

defence of PHD thesis !!! that was the hell of experience :)
Woodstock Festival (Poland, recommend to everyone!),
Roskilde Festival (Denmark),
meditation courses
visit to Vippasana Centre in India

Teach, Learn, Share

We don't have high expectations. a chat in the evening wold be great.
It would be fantastic if you could teach us some local cuisine, or if you don't have time for that, recommend a good place with local food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Of course, our life stories and company.
We can teach you meditation or yoga if you're interested.
We always bring Polish specialties as a gift for hosts, so that You can have a taste of our cuisine,
but if we arrange it beforehand, we can bring some ingredients and teach you how to cook a Polish dish.
