About Me

I am a songwriter, guitarist, and fiddler. I try and do everything

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I bought a ticket to go see Jerry Jeff Walker at the Paramount in Austin, Texas, after being inspired by the story of Steve Earle's hitch-hike down in the early 70's for the same event. I am wanting to explore the country and learn new things everyday, and get over a strange disposition I've sort of felt my whole life. Obviously sleeping in my car is an option but most of the testimonial research I do has pointed to this website. I figure it is worth a try if I'm willing to sleep in my car for extended periods.
I also got a good idea from a teacher of mine, who after getting his teaching license and teaching at public schools for a few years realized that his dream was recording arts. So he sat down one day with his wife and opened all of his favorite cassette cases to see where his interests were being made. It took him to Nashville.
So I got the hint a few months back that my entire Ipod is mostly filled with Texas songwriters (Townes Van Zandt, Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clark, Willie Nelson), so I guess my first endeavor will be Texas.
So to network and avoid a wrong-move permanent relocation, this seems like a great tool for short-term stay.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made my karaoke debut at a venue in Cleveland with the 1969 smash hit "Silver Wings" by Merle Haggard which led to a fluke double-date evening of bar-hopping with the trumpet player for the Temptations and his date.

Teach, Learn, Share

"Life has got a habit of not standing hitched. You gotta ride it like you find it. You got to change with it. If a day goes by that don't change some of you old notions for new ones, that is just about like trying to milk a dead cow." - Woody Guthrie

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to teach music and to communicate. I also was fortunate enough in my college years to have a weird affinity for paper proofreading, so I could proofread papers or whatever you may have. I can show you how to finger-pick a guitar or play double-stops on the fiddle. I can repair instruments and tune pianos. And I can generate random ideas to problem solve. I also have my own hatchbacked car that could be useful for moving things some distances.
